When they pulled the 3M wrap off the side of ours, they used a propane torch to quickly warm the wrap and then started pulling it off. Afterwards they used an industrial version of Goo Gone to clean off the residue. They carefully used a heat gun to warm near edges where there is exposed paint...
I know the tires aren't what most of you are after... but the previous set I had on the rear have taken me through deep snow and ice like it was nothing... the benefit of 6K+ lbs and a Limited Slip Differential.
If you're considering this mod, don't. The dash gauge only has one coil so it doesn't work with a sender. I'll need an older dash gauge to make it work. It hasn't been worth the headache and expense.
:D
I’d recommend 6V golf cart batteries or a true deep cycle 12v over a ‘Marine Deep Cycle’. ‘Deep cycles / starting batteries’ do neither job as well. Golf cart batteries keep giving and giving well beyond what a Marine battery will.
I’ve always removed the negative terminal first to avoid the possibility of sparks/explosions if the wrench bumps the body. On a 7.3 there are two batteries to disconnect... on an Ambo, as many as 4 before it’ll be safe.
Those insurance rates seem nuts. ICBC isn’t known for giving any deals... but even with business coverage, I’m paying about $1300/year with a $200ish deductible. I’ve got the maximum discount of 45% for 10 years of accident free driving, but we get 40% after 4 years.

@mgmetalworks has done a Cummings swap. His thread has a lot of details on how he got everything to work. It’s worth a read... he may also have answers to questions not posted.
I've not removed any resistor. All I've done so far is to replace the '97 sender with an '87 sender (with a couple fittings to plumb it in). The '87 sender is the same as a Standard PS60 which should make the gauge work. The PS60 was used for a wide range of OEM gauges... even a '77. I'm leaning...

The original sender has given me varying results. Cleaning the connections made it work for a while, but I wanted a gauge that moved rather just saying I have pressure. So far, it looks...
The original sender.
Borg Warner equivalent to Standard PS60
Installed with elbow and adapter fitting so wire will reach.
Reading at Hot idle.
Reading at 2k RPM
Where it Reads Cold.
I’ve not removed/bypassed the resistor from the instrument cluster.
After fitting the new sender that has...
A weeks rent would cover the cost of our 7.3 Diesel Ambo.
That said, I’ve considered renting an airstream rather than owning an trailer for any trips that I need to sleep more passengers.
7.3

6.0 w/18k of engine work last year... either a good option because the 6.0 is fixed or a sign to run away...
I’d consider buying North of the 49th. I bought mine for way less with no hassles. Provincially maintained ambulances are worked hard, but are religiously maintained with essentially no budget. In contrast I’ve read quite different stories of ambulances owned by for profit companies.
When I...
Having plywood in the buildup would be beneficial, especially at attachment points. I’d likely use T-nuts for mounting points where possible. Foam would be good for weight savings, however it wouldn’t be as beneficial at mounting points.
