The fun of not knowing where to start! It's very dificult to make plans of any use without the truck. Personally I'd be getting your truck home, and then once you have it, you'll know how it drives/handles etc. You can then look to Hab Box design to suit your truck, and then play with engine...
If its the black plastic looking button on the main steel line just above the fuel filter, it is likely the engine crank button. You can crank the engine to start it with the cab tipped. Mine has the same button but on the opposite side...
Things have been a little slow here for one reason or another, but this weekend we were back at it. Wifetec has cleaned the last traces of red dust and dirt off our truck, and we have both sanded and de stickered the cab. It's exciting work (not). The time where we have to be ready for paint is...
Doooooo itttttt!!! It'll be awesome!!! Theres quite a few of us who have jumped on planes and then driven our new toy home!! It'll be great fun, and a gret section in your thread! Welcome to the world of MB trucks! :)
Ours cut in a few times when I was hauling the retaining wall rocks home (at the begining of this thread)... 40 deg days, an overloaded truck and some steep climbs had us in second gear at almost full revs with the fan howling! Truck stayed cool. The same couldn't be said for the occupants...
Those will be countersunk M4 or M5 screws... Over here hardware stores have those small over priced grab packs with 4 or 5 screws/bolts for $10 or more. You might find what you need. No idea what that plate does tho! Ours has a working viscous fan, so it is staying. Running a solid fan will make...
It's photo's and replies like these that really inspire me (and hopefully others)! I still get a buzz out of looking back at the photos when we had 3 visiting trucks here for a few days. Great fun. Being able to look around another build while being at home instead of a show gave me heaps of...
I think having the box and cab intergrated will work well. Having the front section of your 'cab box' combo mounted on fexible rubbers, with the fixed points somewhere roughly where the cab abd box are mated and then allowing the rear to twist with 1 or 2 pivots should work as needed. At worst...
My turn... ;) !
So, I pondered how best to fit our hab box to our truck for a long time. Rail on rail vs 3-5 point mount. I settled on the 5 point mount for several reasons. Firstly, having spent several years driving Mercedes 1617's and 2421's on some pretty average African roads. The...
Hi DiploStrait.
It's a small Facet Cube pump. These can be bought in 12 or 24v. The cube pumps don't have an anti syphon valve in them, so can be used as a primer pump to bleed the system, but then just sit quietly in the fuel line (between the fuel tank and first filter) doing nothing until...
I'd think along a different and more mechanical route...
I have a Facet in line electric fuel pump on our engine fuel supply line, which will have a push button hidden in the gas locker. This pump will get it's power from the Hab Box batteries (once I have them). Our fuel filters are located...
Thats a big milestone! You'd be pleased with that! Re the turbo, it could be that the engine has sat for a while. Clean all the intake hoses up and see how it goes. You could also run it with the hose between the turbo and the inlet manifold off for a little and see if the smoke is less. :)
I hear you. With that in mind, I tend to build in a 'get out of jail' card for everything I build that is in unchartered waters for me. The system I've built (though used many a time before with seperate subframes) is slightly different in that I'm using the chassis and Hab Box as the bottom and...
If it's too soft there'll be a big rubber block go in where the temporary 100 x 50 RHS is... If it's too hard, I'll get the flap disk out and make the Anti Roll Bar thinner in the middle! (I joke of course! ;) )
