Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

As others have mentioned the lightness of the Aterra comes at a cost and that is the thickness and type of composite paneling they use. I think someone has mentioned it's about 1/2 to maybe 3/4" thick material? By comparison I think the Bison uses 1.5" panels, TC 2" panels and Cascadia 3"...

Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

I ended up with Total Composites from Bear Adventure Vehicles. When I was purchasing there were not as many options for shell builds. As well Bear was also willing to do custom interior choices and components as to what I wanted. Some of the composite builders have pre-set builds which wasn’t...

Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

Their build quality is really terrible for the price you're paying. Acceptable if it was a DIY project you did in your driveway but not a production level camper that costs $35-40K. The composite panels are maybe an inch thick which is much less than the other brands. The way they join the...

Hierarchy of hard sided campers that handle the snow/winter?

They are laughably one of the worst (if not the worst) when it comes to the composite campers. Their bravado comes from their marketing team and spawn of influencers. Pick Total Composites, Bison, Lemker, Globetrekker, Cascadia, ATO, etc etc they are all vastly superior than Scout.

Which shorter Hard Sides can be used with tailgate lowered?

Check out the Outpost Camper. Even has a GMC HD in the pics. The tailgate should be able to close. https://outpost-campers.com/

Harker Outdoors EDC pop-up wedge camper

Personally, I hate the design. The open back end negates the advantage of a wedge camper. If it's windy there's going to be a lot of flapping from the canvas/tent material and you'll have to stake it down. It will also allow for a lot of dust intrusion as well. The other obvious part, as you...

The same thing happens with roof top tents. How many of those aluminum extrusion wedge style roof top tents are there? Each "company" will change a few things here and there. Hinges, struts, canvas, crossbars etc etc. All they do is tell the factory in China what specs and options they want...

    Dirtbox Overland

It's the opposite. Super Pacific designed their campers years ago. China and other companies reverse engineered their campers and thats why you see so many copy cats. For example look at this "company" from Canada that is selling campers that are clearly SP knockoffs. https://allterratech.com/

Total Composites Slide In Camper Kits

That is not what you said. Affordability and Price point are two very different things. I may not be able afford a 1M dollar home but does that mean it's overpriced? Not really. If you're going to say that the TC campers are overpriced then at least compare it something that is apples to...

    Dirtbox Overland

So they own the factory but there was another company that was making the exact same camper a whole year before them? And now OVS is building a camper that looks exactly the same? I'm having a lot of trouble believing any of their claims. About the only thing they do themselves is manufacture...

Bison Overland 8' Slide in on a 2022 F350 Crew Cab

I'll echo this. My buddy went with a flatbed from Alumline and there were multiple problems with his flatbed and storage boxes. He had to pay extra to have the issues fixed. Alumline is definitely cheaper but there are reasons for that.
