I have an outback and a a Columbus variant small, on top of my cruiser......
It would fit fine on top of the outback, but as stated above it would have to sit pretty far forward in order to access the rear without having any issues when opening the hatchback........
I went from a Eezy awn 1800 to a Columbus Variant Small.
The reason was ease of set up....
On our lifted rig it was a challenge to do this specially when wet or snowy.
The trade off was giving up real state up there.
However, being able to leave the sleeping stuff up there is great as this...

For hiking I say try approach shoes...they are great for hiking, rocky, steep, wet terrain,and can take the abuse unlike some runing shoes...
I wear mine on all sorts of hikes, canyons, and climbs.

I use my freezer for frozen meat/fish/poultry.
When I don't need the freezer I just set the temp to fridge mode....
Having the option to freeze food is a plus for us, and like it very much.. specially on multi day/week trips..

I use quickfist for my Zodi.
I also have used gear twist ties for 5Gal water jugs and these work great as well....
You could also get a fire extinguisher bracket and mod the metal band to fit your Zodi...
