    New Defender Rage/Hate Thread

A simple hyper-conservative approach is pointless when you have extensive testing backing the data. You're so far outside your lane and you're completely unaware. Look at the graph again, think about where you fall. Did you read the SAE J2807 standard? Come back once you have. Edit: I'll even...

That is from the US website. And if you click the link, you'll see it says 350kg/771lb. And without access to the engineering information, you cannot assume anything about the limiting factors...

See that peak up front? That's your ability to multiply a tongue weight. Holy crap it's like arguing with somebody who thinks jets don't use fuel or the world is flat. Wow.

for the last time YOUR SIMPLE MULTIPLICATION OPERATION DOES NOT EQUATE TO A PUBLISHED INDUSTRY STANDARD. Oh my god. How does somebody really think that they in 3 seconds can out-do an R&D campaign? Read the damn standard before you 'show off' with your arithmetic. JFC.

And by 'basically' he means he's guessing, as he (nor any of us) have access to the engineering drawings and control systems layouts for either truck. And that's of course ignoring the improved geometries and tire sizes, 1000lb weight drop, new powertrains, etc etc etc. You know, things that all...

So then spend the $1k on the rear locker? Or the extra $50k on a G-wagon? Or endure the 'herky-jerk' action the rare times you need it to clear an obstacle. Here we go with more internet-educated engineers lollllllllllllll

...win? Both cars cleared the obstacles. The Defender did so even without the optional rear locker.

LR3 upgrades options what to do

I use my primary battery for all that. I have a NOCO booster pack in case I kill the battery, but I also don't need to use an inverter or charge anything once I'm parked.

    New Defender News

Here's another way to think about it: It's not relevant at all. Both cars can make it to this location. But the defender can make it there, all while not driving like trash on the road. I do wish he wasn't running lift rods though. I messaged the guy and he says he needed the additional...

It's what SOME people want. Not everyone wants the same things. Hell, if certain things get popular, that specifically turns me off from it.

What everyone else said. Why do you need a roof rack? or bumpers? Or any of this stuff? Truck has tons of space and is already plenty heavy.

I guess I'm different. I care how it drives and how it performs. I don't care who mistakes it for what. If Hyundai came out with a better driving, capable SUV that hit all my needs, I'd buy it. Even if it looked like an Elantra. I've got nothing to prove to anyone.

I'm gonna trigger some folks here - but the doors off, roof off thing is for on-road use. To be seen. To show off how COOL and DIFFERENT you are. Unless you catch a nice cool spring or fall day in Moab on the slickrock... hard pass. My neighbor takes his doors and roof off on his lifted Rubicon...

For the 1000th time, the replacement is more capable than the old defender. It may not make sense to you, but as somebody who's done 35k miles around the PNW over the last 2 years (and 50k miles previously during a long-term trip across the entire country), I can't go back to a noisy...
