Custom tray for the win!

I like the idea of a home-made platform with a ground tent, and one I had considered when I first got my JK (2-door). Sure, it wouldn’t be as sexy or as quick to deploy, but it would be much lighter than a traditional RTT and be much lower profile. Perhaps I’ll revisit that idea in the future...

The factory UConnect 430n is buggy; I’ve replaced mine twice when the nav died (once under warranty). If it happens again, I’m replacing it with an aftermarket that has CarPlay and Android Auto (Insane Audio JK2001 or Stinger Off-road STH10JK).

Neat idea! I had always thought it would be interesting to make a roof top tent that was more like a lightweight ground tent and utilized a rainfly similar to the above. It would be ultra compact using poles and bungies as support...but then I thought "so use one of those existing platform racks...

Really well executed! I'm less offended by that than those angry bird grills. But I don’t think I’d be a buyer. I think the cool factor is the fact that it is unique And one of a kind.

I'm sure there could be some way if combined with your t-slot tracks on the outside; maybe a thru-bolt or another t-slot on the inside? Since you'd be covering the hardtop side windows either way, it seems like a worthwhile addition if you want either/or.

Sew an extension onto your tent fly and use the box as a clothes storage!
