you could use the new spot as a stand alone device any time you wanted..and having the custom messages is a much bigger deal than most people think since they haven't gotten to play with it yet...
being able to send a short text out to a buddy on his way to meet you at camp
being able to send a...
great little day trip...
I am always amazed at the folks who take any old sedan up that road. Sure most make it no trouble but they are scraping and banging all the way up.
I really like camping up there!
Thanks for sharing and nice pics.
The trouble is the price for the van ones are over $2k (the truck ones are around $1500)....add to that the cost of making sliders that would protect the Amp's and you are over the cost of the Rock Slide Engineering ones and it still might not work.
I will be picking up the van this Friday and...
I think you guys are missing the real impact of this...
There is enough of a movement towards our end of the hobby that a major auto company is willing to sell something like this through their dealer network!
How cool is that?
I think it is great that they are even trying to be more "expo"...
I have passed by Lees Ferry and the Cliffs lots of times and will again at the end of this week.
Nice to know there is a fellow Expo member there.
Great report, amazing pics and thanks for taking us along for the ride.
great report and amazing pics...that trail is straight as an arrow.
Question on the first pic, I have never seen someone stow an axe by leaving it in the tree.
Is there any risk of damage to the tree or sap/rust damage to the axe? Just curious, trying to learn new stuff all the time.
It might have been a short trip but it looks like it was a great one!
The north rim is so much nicer than the south simply due to the wide open camping options and amount of play time you can have up there.
I agree with your desire to stay longer and take a bike, post pics when you get back up...
Slow going means more seeing and that is a good thing.
I often read trip reports here, on HUBB, on ADVrider and marvel at how folks blast through an area so fast.
I look back on the mistakes I have made doing the same thing.
Great to see you making the choice to travel slower and enjoy more...
Very very nice...
I have never been in that area and without your report more than likely would never think to go, ah but now. Wow it really opens my eyes to a new part of the country.
Great pics by the way and the captions are just enough to give me the sense of traveling with you.
Nicely done.
2 boys ...19 & 12...
If we are pulling some serious hi-way miles with nothing of note...think Phx - LA then they can watch something classic we can talk about...Pale Rider, Jaws, Twilight Zone and such...something that has alot of cultural references made to it.
The movie has to be paused if...
Amazing pictures and great trip with the full family..
I am very impressed to see someone getting their teenagers out for some extended family time.
Does it help to give them their own cameras? Does that give them a "reason" or a "purpose" in being outdoors or are you just blessed with great...
Hey Terry, yeah she will love them, I know I am really ready for an easier way to get in & out.
I will keep everyone posted on progress, to have something durable and functional will be nice.
Let them know you are interested....
from what I can tell they are just extending the sliders rear section to meet the length of the van so maybe they can engineer these to work on a variety of rigs...
Then again I am in no way a engineer or even someone who should be allowed near a fabrication...
I really really miss our 83 300TD, it was a sedan but I can imagine how nice a wagon would be.
Great report, keep the updates coming and thanks for running such a great platform.
that video is way way cool....
and I love the Smart car on the back of one of the rigs at the end...
I have to say that I might not go dune driving in my Sportsmobile the way those guys go at it in the big rigs...wow
also check out www.sportsmobileforum.com as a place to see DIY projects.
Great people here & there, lots of ideas and killer connections.
Personally I love my Sportsmobile and it has been worth every penny...but then again I am pretty worthless at building things myself.
Finally amputees like me, folks with other mobility issues and just any ol' person who has trouble getting in a E 350 Ford Van has a new option coming down pike!
This all began when Sportmobile & Disabled Explorers finished the WAVE (Wheelchair Accessible Van for Expeditions) for SEMA last year...
