Yeah, I did one of my old XJs in the flat Khaki. I've done a few flat paint jobs and had thought to make this one a little closer the the ST color. I haven't had time to look through the local paint/hardware places here yet but I will. A little sheen or gloss would be ok too.
So I'm curious if anyone has found (or even looked?) for a color similar to the Jeep Sahara Tan? I have a cheap XJ project and thought it could be cool to rattle can it close to that color. I know you can buy the small Mopar touch up cans but that would cost a fortune. Ideas Anyone? :)
Lol! The sheer quantity of stuff I see here (Germany) that ends up in the recycle dumpster and one could almost assemble a full tilt ZAV (ZombieApVehcile). Been watching the AF guys move several gun mounts with shields around their 'lil motor pool. Guess they don't know what to do with them. haha!

*note* its a LONG thread and a lot of the information is a little beyond me technically. But the OP does a great job over the course to explain stuff. *end note*

This kinda seems like a "no brainer" to me.?. I'd keep and build the JK you already have. The aftermarket is flooded with parts and upgrades for these. It fits all your family easily plus some gear. If the only concern is the lack of an auto tranny then swap one in. Or if you plan this to be a...
It does look like a lot of effort was put into making this kit. Is it cheap, no. But that I can understand. My only concern would be finding an appropriate VW motor for it.
It all kind f depends on what you want to do with it. Personally, I would look for one that has the best body and handle the mechanicals myself. I'm no body man. :)
Very cool! Maybe the next one should be a facelift for the YJ?? :) Also a couple other ideas to tease your brain with is a new front facia for an XJ that allows you to run Commander or Liberty headlights. Or a really new facia for an XJ that could look like a Gladiator grille! :))
No actual work to Jeep one or new jeep two. The XJ will get an examination tomorrow to try and foresee any needed parts to order other than seals ans such. I did pick up two 6"x2"x4" 3/16th wall pcs of tubing. Guess those rusty rocker are doomed after all! Mooooooooahahahahaha!
Worth it.
As a friendly offer of support... this is a way better kit than the older Mil-spec ones. The pelican case is far better designed and way more durable. I pulled an old style (non pelican version) ut of the recycle dumpster here a little while ago. I thought "whoopiee" as I saw what it...
If an extra set of either happens to arrive and you'd like a European (Germany) field test, feel free to pass them along. :) I can now do XJ or CJ styles... :))
Thanks for the input Trev. I honestly don't know what I would do with it if I did have it home in the states since I already seem to have more projects than common sense. I wonder if the axles would be worth taking to use on one of my trail only jeeps... Or if the radio box could be fitted to...
Anyone here in Germany that can help me get an idea of what a Unimog radio van may cost here? I found one in a Junkyard and would like to talk to the folks to see if they would sell it but I don't know what to expect? Being an American we sometimes get "overcharged" for stuff that locals would...
Hi guys... I'm mostly a Jeep guy at heart but when I was passing a local junkyard here in Germany I stumbled across these. I believe the Uni is a radio van? No idea what shape it is in or if it even runs but I'm curious about what you all think it is worth? Should I make an offer to the JY? And...
