I never did a build thread for my 02 Tundra as going into it I didn't think I would get all that crazy with it... With my 06 I have slightly different ideas and plans in mind, but I think I should do a build thread this time around.
Besides, these 1st gen Tundras need more exposure...
Pretty much my dream rig you've got there. I love seeing this continue to improve with age. I have a spare Tundra at the moment that I would attempt a transformation into this if I had the means and space to do it.
That's what I found works best myself. With an access cab it was also kind of a pain for quick fridge runs. I usually set up my tent and awning right at the back of the truck.
Mine's the smallest ARB and I think it might with the seat forward, but would be a tight fit. I don't have the seat removed to do a proper measurement. It might fit nicely in the middle between the front seats if you have buckets.
I've kind of come to the conclusion that if you intend to go cheap, then well go really cheap.. It seems after a certain price range, they are all sort of hit or miss quality speaking.
These guys can be found for under 30 bucks. I've used the same pair for several years and they work better...
One thing that I really like about Superwinch is that you can order replacement parts through their website. That's a really rare deal in the cheap winch market.
These bumpers are looking great. My '02 was totaled and I just picked up an '06. I'm waiting on a timing belt/water pump and then a good test run. If there are sufficient funds left I'll be wanting one of these. :)
While the engine is unlikely to give you issues, all the little things could add up. Check the axles, seals, look for play in the u-joints. Bearings and such can be a bit costly to replace so it's good to know what you get into. Control arm bushings have a tendency to dry out, though that might...
