2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 3.0L EcoDiesel

You still get a heavier duty transmission along with the dana 44 axles front and back. The JLU and JT wrangler are pretty large vehicles these days, they have tried to keep weight in check, but they are still over 4000lbs stock and only get heavier with people, gear, and mods. If you can't...

    Winch thimble abuse

The thimble is an issue because it causes tons of extra leverage on the hawse. That is actually what broke the hawse. The hawse could be better supported, but I still think having the large thimble hitting things just isn't the best way to go. Yes, synthetic line is easy enough to repair, but...

    Winch thimble abuse

If he would have played out line, he would have just cut the line. I don't know about you, but getting spotted up and down every little thing makes the day drag on forever. Fixing the issues would be a better way to go. The thimble sticks out about 3" or more. I agree that the hawse could be...

    Swivel winch receiver mount???

I would be very hesitant to side load a standard 2" receiver with the full force of a winch/recovery.

    MaxTrax, are they worth it?

I always liked this little jack setup by Tom Sheppard. It seemed like a VERY efficient way to use mats/ladders.

    Knowing your Center of Gravity

That is how I built my flatty...as low as practical..... It takes more work, but it oh so worth it in the end.

JRs "bronco" was more like 20 years ago. ;) ( 2002 TTC if I remember right)

    Knowing your Center of Gravity

Rolling a vehicle is usually always a dynamic situation. Going over backwards on shorter wheelbase vehicles with lots of rear weight bias is a real risk, especially in certain terrain.

I hope so. I talked with Titan Fuel Tanks a bit about the idea. For hard trails the JK and JL platform fuel tank has always suffered from a lot of impacts when trying to climb large ledges as the rear end breaks over.

The rumor is that the rated mileage will be better than the 2.0L Turbo gas. I have my fingers crossed. The bad news is that it sounds like they might have reduced the fuel tank capacity to 18 gallons on the JLU diesel. I haven't been able to find much info on why. Some people say weight, the...

A decent tech read on some of the development and testing done on the JT program. I would watch for some of these parts to trickle down to the JLU diesel in the cooling department. https://jalopnik.com/the-engineering-behind-the-jeep-gladiators-tow-rating-1833657453

Is that bad? It will also be moving around depending on what the suspension is doing too. On your typical off-road rig I am not sure many people really would notice much difference. Not having weight up high or rearward are my golden rules, but nobody seems to really care much these...

    Winch thimble abuse

I'm thinking a hawse like this would help in this situation. Move the hawse up with hopefully a little more support behind the lower edge. (and not having the thimble leveraging on the lower edge when nosing up to big walls/ledges )

    Winch thimble abuse

He was running synthetic line with the aluminum hawse. I don't think that having additional support under the bottom edge of the hawse would have been bad, but I have run a similar aluminum hawse with sunken upright winch installs for about a decade now without any issues. On this 4runner...

Antenna advice with alum skin veh

I used a painted steel disc that was bonded to the aluminum roof panel with some 3M VHB foam sheet on my LX45 project for a magnetic antenna. So far it has worked out very well without requiring any holes. I have to pull the antenna down if I pull in the garage.

Wouldn't the vehicle roll axis be defined by the suspension geometry? Basically connecting the front and rear roll center.

Tomato Potato ....or having the thimble stick way out is a dumb idea.....

It is nice to see more Mopar parts leaking out like the Lockers from the Rubicon package. https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/differential-case-assembly-jl-dana-44-front-axle-68400407aa $675 Not bad really. I'm not a huge fan on the oem E-lockers, but using oem parts can be nice sometimes to...

Old G-wagon brochures and options information?

Mr. Sheppard was talking about being able to order his G-wagon with options from the factory to have stuff like extra factory rated payload for instance. Perhaps a different rear axle, the long wheelbase 3-door configuration with the panel sides, etc.
