The midsized rigs with some mods seem to do ok for Single guys packing light. But everyone migrates to heavier trucks if they are hauling multiple people and associated stuff that comes with that.
2500/250 for hauling people, camper, and stuff. Seems to be the typical progression. Given I cant...
I wont transport my family in Wrangler derivitive for one simple reason. Crash ratings. Also a big reason I haven't had much interest in the 4dr Pickups even though I keep trying to buy one every few yrs. The current Canyon/Colorado is about par to our Subaru on that aspect today.
I have seen...
Numbers show fewer people are driving long distances. RV industry is in full court press as is AAA to spur the concept of road trips with the under 40 generations.
25yrs ago we ran the Dodge Tophand 300,000 miles between hauling cattle in the stock trailer, doing trips and such, not to mention...
Agreed. I have paddles on my Subaru, add # of turns lock to lock in a truck and your chasing paddles given unlike wiper stalks and lighting controlles that are fixed ie do not rotate with the steering wheel. Super annoying.
The gear shift location being static is far superior.
Super cars with...
Your right its a truck. A 40k midsized upper trim SLT needs to sport interior materials at least on par with 30k Subarus. The Canyon slt seats look far better than the Colorado Z 1 seats. But they lack very basic touches that Ford will no doubt put in the Ranger. GM has a 3yr jump on Ford...
The brand fan thing cracks me up. These days the parts and gear used are often shared between brands. Hell Ford and Chevy are co developing their next AT together. Toyota V8s are near carbon copies of GM v8s in how they are designed.
Whats not being said by Fanboys is the completely stuipid...
Bought one at Target a few yrs ago. The bag is 42x42 and about 20inches high. Bag and zipper is made well. The straps were crap, but easily delt with by simply using some decent straps. Its huge holds allot. Stick the motherinlaw in the bag put her suit case in her seat ;-)
We use it strapped...
33s on the ZR2. Cool rig. I'd like to see locking front diff offered as an option on the Canyon and the skid plate should be offered as an option on all trims.
I've never been a chevy fan.. But my recent experience with a couple of their new vehicles has me thinking a GMC may actually end up in...
Nice to see a basic option. Xterratime has a good point. The argument of a typical cap and tent has pluses too. Except shoulder and winter season use.
Something a little sleeker, and with a wide rear door would make it multi use without to his point being viewed as too much camper on a daily...
Front range? We talking altitude climbs? Your going to miss the turbo mitigating Altitude sickness you get in the non turbo engines. There is a reason why Colorado is the top state for light diesel sales.
Comfort? And Taco dont really go well together. That puts the 4runner at the top of your...
My J80 and my Sequoia needed big heavy tires. Given they shred tires and are heavy beasts. The Subaru is a crazy scrappy car even on decent road tires.
180,000 miles in the 01 GT Legacy Limited 2.5 non turbo 5spd MT. That model had lower closer gearing than the OB. It towed yr around hauling racing sailboats several 1000 miles a yr. It did plenty of logging rds not towing. Usal Rd lost coast etc, private land trails etc.
The 90,000 mile 2010...
Subie, as someone that tows with a subie. Power, vs gearing and Torque converter stall. Dragging a trailer over shelves, bolders etc takes power and the ability to get it to the wheels.
I like my Subaru, tows great 1500LBs and under. Rough trail 1000lbs.
I found with all our cars 01 jetta, 01 Legacy, 93 J80, 2006 Sequoia and the typical long trip rig 2010 Outback that the box is quieter than nakid bars and or bike trays etc. The box smooths the air flow under the bars, less wind noise.
As a side note on my Legacy and on a friends Outback the...
Hot air holds more water. Warmer you keep the camper less water seperates out in the form of condensation. Yes a fire stove would generate some air flow, and lots of heat, both would give you the impression it drys things out, because it does.
The small micro stoves originated from the sail...
