Great writeup and trailer, GLWS. A few comments/questions:
The tent/awning links aren't hitting a specific product page, FYI.
Any idea of tongue weight when the RTT is "down"?
Any idea of the weight distribution across the axle once the RTT is fully raised?
Does the CARC peel a little/lot via...
Looks terrific! Please circle back once you've gotten some mileage (how well it holds up offroad) and out-of-the-driveway usage feedback. Well done - thx for sharing.
The OP hopefully now has an understanding of the dangers here he wouldn't have arrived at had he NOT asked the community for some feedback.....:coffee:
Go old-school and find some $5 folding lawn chairs (garage sales) - aluminum frames (lightweight), fold flat (I would think 5 would easily fit inside the volume you noted) and nobody'll steal 'em.
Here's some Craigslist ones near me - HANDWOVEN MACRAME - you'd be the talk of the town.....
@SamM - keep after it! I've checked in a few times throughout this build and can't say enough how jealous and impressed I am with your determination, imagination and desire to bring your build to life.
As someone else mentioned, a battery powered CO monitor is your friend....jealous of everyone's JJ's, have been on the fence for a few years now. Please keep the updates coming, fun to read!
Sub'd - REALLY like the chuckbox/drawer combo here. Suddenly I'm dwelling on this for my GX....looking forward to seeing the finished product - well done!
Threw mine in my hammock last week when camping with kids (summer vacation has begun). Terrific!
Temps down to maybe upper 40's at night, very comfortable. Highly recommended, take care.

Get well SCJ!!!! Sorry to hear about the crash.
I'm a relative novice on MTB trails - I often hop off and walk down bigger drops, just not interested in well, going through what you're going through.
Your stories and pics are always great - hoping you recover fast and continue with the...
Thought I'd check before posting and here it is - picked up a Lightspeed Sky Gazer sleeping pad today at Costco for.....$35. 2" thick, insulated (R 6.9) - it's this one (not my vid).
Not sure when I'll get a chance to use it, just sharing as it seems like a good deal and product...
So today's the 18th - my wife's bday and we're at a resort sipping drinks poolside and I'm wondering how the axle swap is coming along 😀
Have you yet been in a situation where sans rear locker had you unable to climb or is this primarily a proactive upgrade??? Apologies if you...
