FYI Meyle has a new front LCA in HD ball joint build. I went with these as well as the new 4600 series Bilstien complete front struts and rear dampers.
I replaced all 8 arms, 4 drop links, 4 sway bar bushings, toe links as well as new EBC 17"'wheel size rotors.
Several mechanics I spoke with...
Actually, do you have any desire for true bridging ladders? Waffle boards will fit under the RTT if you use Thule or Yakima standard crossbar towers set onto the rails. With a two bar RTT set up, you could have 4 ladders up there for getting over ledges, etc.
They're also useful for leveling...
Yeah hardshell will require a bar near the front. Not three but two with one near front. Note the roof and rails are not flat front to rear...they arc such that a flat item will create a gap at either end.
Full length factory rails plus flush mounted cross bars is what I'd do. Ideally for a...
The factory liners work fine. There is just one place to patch where the rear buldge has to be cut out after moving the lines back there and flattening the body seam. Up front it's a simple slide and tuck away. If someone "hacked" things up, you're due a refund.
I can grab photos if you like...
So are you two talking about the conical boot at the end of the half shaft near the diff? The axles each side have two boots, one at the hub end and the other near the diff which also passes through the frame. This is where mine has cracked and is spewing grease in a ring around it within the...
Sounds good to me. I like the big racks on the D110 as seen above. I sometimes carry a lot on the roof but am glad that now it's usually only the roof tent and chainsaw case plus of course the awnings attached to the side and rear.
I think the difference for me now using the air suspended...
I like to play devils advocate sometimes so with you coming from a Japanese make, are you not also considering a Toyota at least in similar price range? Earliest Land Cruiser 100 are getting much cheaper and frankly, probably are a better value for most people.
Then again, why do you even...
Yes, I like this reminder but it applies to any used car deal. Any sort of weirdness that you as a reasonable and honest person wouldn't by trying to push, is your notice to end any interaction.
I forgot for moment the D2 doesn't really need a different rear bumper just to relocate the tire and therefor isn't really such a great upgrade as it is on an lr3/4.
Do you have higher rated springs for the load you're describing? You didn't mention that did you?
Sometime if you're really...
Next I get to replace the rear axle boots. Sure wish I'd noticed it needed them while all that was apart but it looks so fresh that I wonder if I caused it during moving the axle back n forth and around.
Are you saying that raising the motor a bit is required for the engine mounts replacement but it also is a way to make the manifold gasket more accessible? Thus being good things to do at same time? I assume this is just an inch or so sort of distance moved up?
When doing bigger work under...
invest in a way to bumper mount the fuel... otherwise, it doesn't matter much left or right etc up top. I did put mine up top but ease of access was more important. such as how easy it is to either stand on a tire or on the rear bumper.
I find standing on the rear tires is a lot better than...
Nice. You just have to get more creative w the space uses. First you don't need a base pad that wide if solo. I do a similar set up in bmw 5 series wagon but it's best to use passenger side for sleep pad and driver side for the gear.
I'll get a photo for you sometime but I put an ARB 37L...
"dumb" was a poor choice of words on my part but your comment regarding Dukes of Hazard and broken end links sure sounded like it's at least partially driving style. Basically it's mostly the driver causing things. I've had my fair share of undesirable moments.
How are your sliders working...
yep. that guy's an unethical ************** ;) What you never hear anyone saying is anything about loosening and properly resetting all 16 control arm bushings when using those stupid rods. So in effect they start prematurely ruining all the bushings with the vehicle just sitting there parked at...
Something as simple as a loose connection in the sensing unit mounted behind the fender liner can cause the dash fault lamp. One of mine did that once and snugging the connectors fixed it. Anyway, when you buy used you get all the problems that were never addressed. My tpms never gave a...
