    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Wow, Thanks for all the compliments! I've worked very hard on it. Went out and got these today! start of the trail-and some as we were going along-] It started snowing very hard and since we were 4000 feet up, it got cold really fast. The mud was freezing to the Montero. The last one is me being...

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Today I decided to install the snorkel. I pulled off the right fender and commenced to drilling and cutting. I took the baffle and intake tube off the outside and installed this- I used rivets and was sure to seal it from the back side. Afterwards I drilled into the fender using the provided...

    Bead Balancing tires.

I have them and as stated they take a few rotations to kick in, but they work fine for me and without the hassle of the weights and having to get them balanced every so often is a huge plus for me. I am an advocate so far.

    Airing Up

Not sure about you driving too low on the washboard, but IMO that looks like a good way to air up your tires after trail running.

Poaching is increasing in South Africa.

How on gods green earth did you get that he was blaming AK-47s for firefights and war? What are poached/ hunted enough here in the states? Are you some kind of troll? Go wander in some other forum. We have class here my friend.

Best overall tire suited for Overlanding/Expo?

I have had the BFG ATs and they were a decent tire. I have had Pro Comp MTs and they were good on the trail but noisy and swayed a bit on the road. I now have BFG MT KM2s and they are surprisingly good on the highway and the trail. I don't think that a radial tire can compete with them on rock...

Snorkels? There were 4 last I checked. Click on the link to find out for sure. If you are talking about the bumper, it came off of a Jeep Cherokee. They make them on a daily as far as I know.

This should be much easier than the bumper install I just did. I got it for 160 bucks EBAY item number 250892695002 hurry though only 4 left. The company is JDM motorparts, so it should be a good quality item. Came with everything for the install including a template and rivets even. Doesn't...

    SOFpirate's 1996 Montero LS buildthread.

    1) an 8000lb winch will work for our rigs just fine, so anything 8 or greater is good. 2) I looked at the possibility of placing my winch in said position and I kept finding reasons not to. 1- the clutch handle will be impossible to reach 2- more susceptible to water submergence and high...

    Scrubber3's long overdue build thread

Some more pictures Figured I'd clean it up a bit. I'm going to save the trail shots for the picture sticky thread. Notice the bumper has a slight upward angle from the front. I didn't have a reason to do it, that's just how it turned out. Not that I mind. It isn't going to budge and I sure as...

    A realistic outlook: Differences between 30x9.50, 31x10.50, 33x10.50

Siping for the Duratrac goes to a little less than 6/32 from what I have read so they should be good in adverse weather conditions for almost the entire life of the tire. Rave reviews for these in snow and ice. Needless to say they are good in the rain as well. Seems like a no-brainer for what...
