    rooftop tire mounting

You may be able to mount it to the brush guard if you think it can hold the weight. I don't really see a reason that it couldn't to be honest. Probably the best option due to the PITA of being in the way on back. Just my .02

    rooftop tire mounting

With the barn doors, I think that the hitch tire mount will probably work best. I would venture to say that if you can get a front hitch to mount it up there. That way if you want to tow something it won't be in the way. Plus it looks really cool up there IMHO.

New Guy here with 2012 Power Wagon

Daniel, are you with the 1st Cav? I was part of a Combat Observation Lasing Team (COLT) for the 1st Brigade 1st Cavalry. Every been to Manning Mtn? That place is a mud bowl when it rains. Keep your head down bro. JW

    rooftop tire mounting

A good Idea may be to make a swing-away for the back. That way it can be mounted safely, out of the way using nuts and bolts. On the roof will cause problems in many aspects already mentioned as well as sinking in the roof and causing the runners to become loose over time. Not to mention you can...

In that case I see a very nice alternative to steel cable. Without the sleeves, I wouldn't bother with it.

    A realistic outlook: Differences between 30x9.50, 31x10.50, 33x10.50

I have heard good things about the duratrac. They have impressive siping as well. Another good thing about those is that they sell them at WalMart in that size so if you ever need one in a pinch you are set. If you are a good year man, I would go with the MT/R though. They are a bit more...

I heard synthetic line doesn't like rocks too much. I also heard that some are wrapped in a protective coating though, so I am not sure. IIRC you can put more synthetic line on a spool vs steel cable. I did manage to get some D-shackles today from tractor supply. Now I just need a snatch block...

    Silverwulf's 99 Montero GenII.5 build

That looks great man. I know you were contemplating the switch to a 35, but have you considered going to a 33x14x15 by any chance? Interco SS Boggers are made in that size and would fill the lift you have fairly well. You could use those and not have to worry about gearing. Just a thought, but...

It sure is. Yes the bumper looks great on the rig, but in no way fit perfect. lol I had to cut the truck, bumper, drill holes through several pieces of 3/8th inches steel, weld several spots, and cursed to the high heavens when I went through four 17 dollar drill bits. Yesterday I spent 12...

    Engine choice

Very true. Gasoline wise, the 5.3 is readily available for relatively low cost and like was said are very reliable and like all SBC motors, are easy to work on. Somewhat lightweight as they tend to weigh around as much as most of the larger 6 bangers. They have a very wide powerband as well...

    Engine choice

The GM 5.3 liter would be my top pick. Unless you're looking to run a diesel. :) They tend to produce more low end torque which is preferred when driving most off road conditions. They also tend to be sealed much better than a gasoline engine so they can stand water fording better. Less...
