'05 Unimog U500 on daBay

For you camper builders with families, note the last line of the description says:

"I also have a matching U500 Plastisol Doka cab if anyone is interested. The Plastisol cab is not included in this auction."

There's only a couple of these cabs in the US, so this is kind of an interesting possibility.

We voted, Mike, and you were elected to buy this Unimog. Please proceed accordingly.

Don
I don't know, guys. Don't you think the signature line is lookin' a little overdone already?

So in the words of William Tecumseh Sherman: "I will not accept if nominated and will not serve if elected."

Your are, however, authorized to collect contributions to change my mind. :)

Shoot, I'd accept a collection too, but I'll settle for the finders fee of 10% :)

Especially since the bidding is up to $45K with 6 days left...

Wonder what he's going to want for that hard-to-find doka cab.

Turning this into an expo vehicle with the doka is difficult. If anyone is genuinely interested in a U500 with the Doka we've discussed this in the unimog forum here.
It is a very interesting pickup truck alternative with the doka, however.

For whatever it is worth, the asking price for this Mog in his Unimog Exchange ad is $85K. I have no idea whether this is the auction reserve.

$85K was also the asking price for Dan Johnson's similar unit, and Dan was asking $10K additional for his largely-completed camper. This, interestingly, gives your $95K a choice between a full-boat U500 with a camper or a similar U500 with the rare double cab.

Best line is this thing!

Variopilot - You can move the steering wheel and pedals to either side of the cab! ... it sure freaks out my friends.

That had me laughing pretty good!

I actually would prefer a variopilot if I bought a mog.

I believe there was a twin to this thing on the exchange for aroudn $52k So, the prices differ. Then again there was one on there that was asking $145K (some people are on crack)

Cool truck still. That Doka would be SUPER nice, and the heated windscreen would win in my book any day!

I believe there was a twin to this thing on the exchange for around $52k.
Hey, Brian,

There might easily be $30-$50k difference in their list prices. A lot of the U500s came fully spec'd so they made good trucks for Freightliner reps to demo. Things like VarioPilot, dual system hydraulics, CTIS, air seats all around, etc. generally got the price of the demonstrators over $150K. The one on the Unimog Exchange is apparently much less well optioned and (judging by the dump cover) probably had a tougher life as a working truck. Add in two year difference in model years and that accounts for your $33K lower asking price.

Mike

Cool, Thanks Mike.

The guy that was wanting $145 for his 05 is still on crack in my mind! haha

Hope this guy sells his, it sure looks like a SUPER nice truck! And, yeah, again, love that doka, would make a nice 'family vehicle' ;) ;)
