100 series factory Aux tank

Here's how my tank was installed. A long metal strip/rod welded to a bolt, fed in through one of the rectangular holes in the frame. Sounds a little hokey but it is stronger than using rivnuts.

What keeps the bolt from spinning? Is it a carriage bolt?

Toyota must have some way of doing this, otherwise there would already be nuts in the frame. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't make different frames for N America. The sub tank may be a dealer installed option, if so there must be a service bulletin that covers the install.

Not a carriage bolt, just a regular bolt with a hex head. The strips of metal are about 1cm wide and 2-3mm thick and seem to work well enough to get the nuts torqued down. I used 6-8 of them and none broke off.

As for dealer installed subtanks, I have an idea of how they might get the backing nuts in place. Take a look at page 5-6 of this TSB. Seems like even more work.

Bingo! There is a hole just like the one in the FSB an the frame behind the bracket location.

I found the two access holes

Passenger side, the two wires are for my Ham, usually they are inside a piece of hose to keep them from chaffing.

I think ther will be room to snake a back plate in through the holes.

I did a test to see if I could do something along the lines of the Toyota FSB

First I made a copy of the back of the bracket;

Then I trimmed off every thing unnecessary.

It will slip through the access holes easily.

Next step is to make a set out of thicker material with the nuts welded in holes.

I think they have a shot for that juju stuff - it's going around. What symptoms of this juju are you having?

Spent all day dealing with the results of an ATM skimmer.
I don't know which pi$$ed me off more; someone taking my money or causing me to wast a whole day dealing with the fallout.

Sorry man. Time is money too. Wishing them bad karma - hope these scumbags get their just desserts.

That sucks. Hope it ended/is ending well.

That sucks, I'm sorry to hear this. You really have to look at the ATM's and make sure nothing is attached to the card reader.

We've also read gas stations are another easy mark for the debit card thieves. Sucks. Hopefully its Karma (yep...with a capital "K" :)) away for the perps.

The only time in the past three weeks I've used my debit as such was at the 7-11 down the street. I almost never use that station because it won't let me run my debit as a credit card. There was a piece on the news last week that the dippers were running a scam at a 7-11 in S Meadows so I'm guessing that was it.

Other than wasting a whole day dealing with it we aren't out anything. The bank will cover the loss.

I've been working with stuff like this for years and doubt I would spot most of them:
Results fro Google Image search "ATM skimmers"

I'm amazed at how close they match plastic colors, that in it self is hard to accomplish.

The safest thing is to never use any ATM device that isn't in a controlled environment.
