1964 M416, my motorcycle and expedition trailer (show us yours!)

Moving this thread here....accidentally posted it in the classifieds.

Bought this trailer 5 years ago and have had only good experiences with it. Bought it and immediately welded an adjustable rack together then bolted it on to the trailer. That way I could get the bikes under when needed and lower the rack when no bikes are in there.

Probably put 25k miles plus on this thing and it’s performed really well off road when loaded. Had a Tepui on it for a few years, which I recently sold. Holds kayaks, surfboards and bikes.

Love how capable and bulletproof these are. Curious to hear/see more military trailers used for expedition or towing motorcycles. Anybody wanna share? Looking to buy a pioneer tool trailer or m116a3 flatbed and add to the military trailer fleet.

So I have a 1967 but it is 4 states away with my brother who is a welder by trade. He has had it for a couple of years and just recently started extending the tongue, adding a hitch point to the back, and building a lid for it. We were planning to put a bike in front horizontally but my 450 is way too wide for the M416 so gonna wait until I get the trailer back to reevaluate. Your setup looks like it works well.

Awesome! Funny you say that as that’s my plan. I want to buy a pioneer tool
Trailer or just a regular m116a3 flatbed and mount a hitch horizontally for one bike. Something like this...

That last pic is exactly what I would like to do with the 416. My brother was thinking about a tray type motorcycle mount and it would have been 7' wide when it was done. I will figure it out when I get it back. These trailers are very versatile. My bro has had mine so long that I have adapted my setup to where I don't really need it anymore. But I am not going to sell it cuz it's just a great little trailer.

That wagon trailer would be awesome. Don't see a lot of those around.

I hauled a race bike around in my M101cdn for a while.

It did the job but it was less than ideal and the loading was sketchy at best ?. Eventually I switched to something a bit easier to deal with.

and the 101 has changed a fair bit since then too.

Wow, ya that trailer has had a transformation! I like the steps you have connected to the fenders and body, that’s something I’ve been thinking about welding on my m416. Just seems more rigid and potentially a great place to mount Jerry cans, etc.

I looked high and low for an M416 but everything I found just needed much more work than I wanted to put into it For what people were asking. For less than it would have cost me to rehab the M416s that I was seeing I ended up ordering a new M416-like trailer, tailored to my wants and needs. I can’t wait to pick it up in a few weeks.

Let's see it once you pick it up!
