Well then the only other thing is hopefully when you get the ball joints changed it fixes it. Believe me, I know it is frustrating. Good Luck

Alright...now to be serious! :hehe:

Had the Jeep in another shop I've had it in before (they service our work vehicles) and the guy says "Your ball joints look fine."

Huh? :Wow1:

I don't remember, but he said I needed an important part of my axle replaced (or he said the axle itself) one of the last times I had my rig there (forgive me....I'm not the most knowledgable of people when it comes to vehicle mechanics). I do know my CV boot on the passenger side was shredded all to hell. SO...I say go ahead & replace the axle (only $185 out the door, better than I expected) and now I notice a very significant improvement. It doesn't feel so loosy-goosy when I drive it....it feels sturdier too...although I don't think it completely fixed the DW problem...I still notice some minor wobbling (like it wants to unleash DW on me) when I hit a bump just right, but it doesn't give me full-on DW. I'm thinking about getting the ball joints replaced anyway (when I have the $ to do it now...funds are a bit tight) and hopefully that *crossing fingers* will cure it!

It sounds like the CV axle assembly what with the brand new boots on there now!

I drove it during my lunch break today, and there's still wobble...not full blown DW....but about as close as you can get to it...so yes, ball joints are next on the "to-do" list.

By the time I'm done pretty much everything on my WJ will be new! :hehe:

Alright...mechanic insists my ball joints are fine. After another more detailed inspection...they found my tie rod is bent...so I'm getting that replaced.

I'll give a summary tomorrow when I get my WJ back tonight!

GOOD NEWS!!!! :wings:

Death Wobble is GONE!!!! I drove over many bumps & railroad tracks that have set off DW many times, and now I drive over them without DW!!!

Now I can drive normal and not so extremely cautious!!! :smiley_drive:

It's a great feeling, huh..:victory:
Now we have one more thing we can pass on to others when they ask about death wobble. It generally seems to something different for others .

So what you're saying is that it wasnt the Steering Stabilizer?

Toe can have a big affect on DW. Between that and caster, they should be the first easy, cheap things to check besides worn parts.

I'm honestly thinking it could have been a combination of things....just the tie rod was the last piece of the puzzle. My driving the passenger front tire off the trail impacted the steering stabilizer, bent my tie rod, and I'm sure threw everything out of alignment (my honest opinion of the whole entire cluster-mess I had to repair or replace).

Lessons learned here...

A. Stay on the trail & watch where I'm going
B. Let someone else go first & follow them (as long as they don't go off the trail!)
C. Continue to lean on people here in the event I need help!!! THANK YOU!!!

Glad to hear it's fixed dude. Good thing we stopped you ASAP and you didn't create anymore damage on the trail.
