what happens when someone puts their hands, or anything else, into the stream?

is there a vent on the labyrinth o' pipe, or does it just gurgle?

The last question merits an answer...Yes, it's vented...An 1/8" hole in the vent cap is all that's needed to maintain that stream...

I agree, but wouldn't the counter and back wall as well? I think the flexibility of the clear hose, and distance above the sink, encourage the wrath of the element.

Lock at 90, they are unsupported at 180...

Dumping is consideration when dealing with good people prone to that...Alex, isn't....

The tank was filled after curing with a strong chlorine bleach solution for many days...When draining it, it was while I was driving...No splashing...and if id did...???...It's water on stainless steel...Bring on the wrath of draining water...!!!...

Your last van conversion used a flexible tube for sink drainage and this time you used rigid pipe. Were there problems with the last one? My cabinet and sink set-up will allow for a flexible tube much easier than rigid, so I thought I better ask before I rig it up.

I say that must depend on how high above the sink you hold your hands. Hold it down in the sink and out shouldn't be a problem. But hey, it's still water so some splashing probably will appear but as Paul wrote it's stainless steel and he has coated the wood quite good. And as a cabinet/furniture maker I can say wood with good lacquer/coating will not be damaged by some water.

It depends on how the vehicle is designed to be used...There is no one right answer...

My Sprinter has carpet over the factory plywood, but most of the time that is covered with grey interlocking foam garage floor padding...The grey foam can get wet (changing wetsuits inside), withstand tools and plywood getting scuffed around and is cheap and replaceable...The carpet is nice when Pam and I road trip on the highways...

No problems with the flex hose...I just did it different...You choose, either should be fine...

(above) From the driver seat, this is how it looks...Custom boxes and a relocated 12 volt outlet...The tablet mount is bolted to the passenger side of the center console and the capture loop up front significantly stiffens up the aluminum flex arm...The tablet and radio are both Bluetooth...


(above) Yesterday Alex flew up from S.F. and I picked him up at SeaTac where he was reunited with his van...Back at my place he and I hung out all morning and half the afternoon...Great guy...


(above) I had everything out of the van so Alex has complete and uninfluenced placement of everything that goes in there...It's his blank canvas...It's important to do it that way...


(above) I have a set of those fold flat, folding chairs and one of them looks just right for the interior...It's Alex's now...


(above) I really enjoyed hanging out with Alex all day and getting to know him on levels deeper than just vans...To me that's the best part of building these things...Know the owner, make a friend...

Before he left it was handshakes and hugs, then as he was rolling out the driveway it was "See you later"...Yeah...
