Duh!! The secret camper trailer is no secret, but it's not mine either! That would be Haggis's...H the check is in the mail, now the secret is still safe! although undoubtedly not as cool as the secret RTT.

Seriously, Jimbo's got a cool project he's finished that's he's not quite ready to share. It's sweet and he did a damn nice job on it. The Popups mine, its a Fleetwood Evolution Series 1, we bought back in May or June. Been real happy with it so far, used it half a dozen times so far. I'm not planning on bringing it on this run because first of all I don't know if there is the room for it, second the spot could be occupied or unuseable and I want to be flexible if we need to find a different site. Last weekend Jim, Beth and the kids met up with Michelle, our kids and me in WV at Trout Pond Recreational Area for a weekend of camping. We were planning on staying up at Coopers Rock state park but all the campsites were booked so we had to change plans. If we had stayed at Coopers Rock we were planning on checking out the Expo site and give it a pre-scout and report back but that didn't happen.

The RTT was only secret because it was pending. I do expect to take delivery in the next week or two, in which case I'll be rockin' it for WV. I'm extremely excited to try it out.

At Trout Pond the campground was full, but the hiking trails were empty and hadn't seen any recent use other than the bear scat we found. Seems that all the people wanted to do was swim in the lake and cruise around the campground over and over and over again. Sunday we cruised along Squirrel Gap Road (Forest Service Road) found a few real nice campsites but again didn't see anybody and the sites hadn't been used in some weeks. Hopefully that holds true for the Expo site also.

I'm sure we'll be fine if we snag it thur or early friday. In a pinch I know of 1-2 primitive unoffical sites on the road leading south out of Laurel Fork Campground. It is in the Mon forest, probably 30 miles from the planned site so we have options. Besides Mark and Jim can clobber any unwanted squatters with a flail and I'll make stew.

Yes sir, and with all the OSB board I don't think I'd want a shower in there adding moisture inside the shell. We're going to buy a portable shower unit and shelter, but for now when we're in a primitive site we just heat up some water on the stove and use a shower bag. There's enough water storage on board (25 gals) for a long weekend for the 4 or us, and with the two propane bottles we've haven't had to refill the propane yet and that's with running the fridge, heating water, cooking and occasionially running the furnace to take off the morning chill. That would be a total of 12 days of use. It tows real nice behind the Dodge, you almost forget it's back there. I can store all of the gear for a trip in the trailer, and haven't even used the front rack yet. The only thing I 've been haulin in the bed of the Ram is firewood and my tool bag under the tonneau cover.

"Kill it than Grill it!" and it comes pre tenderized. Oh, I like them there taters in my stew and everything done gits better ifin you toss a squirrel or possum or two. None of dem fancy vegetables though.

Just got done making a list of all the gear and stuff we're taking with us the on trip and just wondered how your preparations are going. Since we're not bringing the trailer, we bought a cheap tent for the kids so we wouldn't be crammed in our old tent like sardines. Also I'm planning on bring my chainsaw in case we have some deadfall to clear from the site. Seems like the biggest item will be food and that's Ok by me. These next couple of weeks are going to crawl by.

Got the truck mostly ready for the tip. Need to put a charge lead in for the trailer battery. A/C is still fubar. Looks like the compressor is eating itself and sent some shavings into the expansion valve. Looks to be about $350-400 to repair it.
Need to do a repair on the fridge. The cord is goofy but that is a easy one. Make a basket for it if I have time.
My redneck camp trailer is road worthy but nowhere near where I wanted it to be. I need to round up a good spare tire for it as well or just leave it home.
My Big hang up is weather right now. They don’t call it Hotlanta for nothing! 98 predicted today with about 50% humidity putting the feels like up around 110. My A/C was running this morning at 6am. :smileeek:
Just too beat from the heat to get any work done outside in the late afternoons early evening and running out of them before the event.

I got home from work today and the heat index was 122. Wow! It was alot better in the mountains over the weekend. This trip won't come soon enough; I think someone mentioned that earlier...

I feel your pain man, just had the same thing happen to the Ram. The front bearing in the compressor went out and sent shavings through the system, took out the orvifice valve and fouled the lines. Mother mopar wanted $580 for a new compressor with a 1 year warranty. Got an aftermarket one (turns out its the same brand as factory) for $360 with a 2 year warranty, the orvfice was $45, and the new hardline was $65. Total to repair and recharge was $550. Now it's the cond. is so cold that if I set it on Max, the wife starts to whine "It's to cold in here!"
