10mm OME Spacers on OME Coils.

Not what I meant..but whats your suspension setup currently? 3" and 31's?

I meant are you on stock wheels & wheel spacers? I'm trying to decide if i want to keep my steel wheels, or drop back to the stock Turbines or Canyons.

Ah, I see. 2.5" OME suspension, 30x9.5 BFGs, 15x7 Sawblade wheels, 5.25 backspacing, no wheels spacer.

Hmm ever wish you went up to a 31? Wonder if I should do 30's or 31's...if you have time I posted a new thread trying to figure out my current direction.

Nope, I don't have any regrets about going 30s. 31s, IMO, is where you start feeling the affect of under-gearing on the XJ. What I mean by that is, if you run 31s on 3.55 gears, you'll start to notice a slight lag and loss of MPGs. 30s and 3.55 gears, it still feels like stock and I've seen a little, to no lost, in MPGs and drivability. I also went with 30s because I did not want to mess about with rubbing, proper bump-stopping, and trimming. I would like to keep my XJ looking as OEM as possible, but with an aggressive edge.

I do plan to bump up to 31 KM2s. I like to try and do things rights when I upgrade, and since 31s will be my stopping point (Jeeps have stopping points? :)), here is what I eventually have planed to accommodate 31s:
ACOS, OME ZJ Coils, OME Nitrocharger Sport shocks, OME HD Leafs, AA SYE, JKS/Currie Control Arms, JKS/Currie Steering and a regear to 4:10s.

Wow. What a terrific build/adventure thread (well documented) and an awesome rig you have there! So cool. I'm definitely subscribing to keep on with this one. Keep up all the fantastic work. :D

Oh and I agree with the one comment up there that mentioned the ring to scoop that girl up. hah. She looks like a great "other half" for you on these adventures; and actually buying you gear for your rig..? Kudos to her. Life's always better when you share it with another.

Thanks, I try and keep everything up-to-date. I will, as long as funds allow... :)

Yeah, she is great girl. I've lucked out since I laid my eyes' upon her back in 7th grade.

Enjoy your thread as well. I think you are right about the 30"s being max size with not ill effect on driving performance. however when you go to 31's it seems to really compliment the xj nicely. You may remember I switched from 33's to 31's on my xj shortly before I sold it. Doing it again I would go 31's from the start.

I now have those 31's on my O5 unlimited and I think the BFG km2 is the best all around tire I have ever used, you will like it for sure.

And, I still dig those sawblade wheels... there goes those wheels in my head turning again.... darn MCObray - nothing but trouble...:)

Best of luck with it all.

I agree about 31s being the size of tire that compliment them the most... they just look right and should come from the factory at 3" and 31s.

Ah, yes KM2s! A set of 31x10.5x15 KM2s will definitely be my next set of tires.

Check into them... you can pick them up dirt cheap off CL. I love the rugged look they give, plus, you don't see them around often. Thanks John!

A hi-lift and a bundle of rope will do any job a winch will. Longer? Yes. Hard work? Yes. More Dangerous? Not if you know what you are doing.(There are dangers with both). Cheaper? Bigtime and you can keep your RTT. Why not a 100ft of 20,000lb rope. A hilift and some front recovery points?

You certainly bring up a good point, and it's something I could certainly do. I just find an bumper and winch a little bit more conventional. With a Warn winch, I can use it whenever, wherever. With the RTT, I can only use it 3-4 months out there year. I've wanted an ARB long before a RTT :Wow1:.

I already have front recovery points (tow hooks) btw.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

That's cool. I understand the want for the bumper and the winch. I did the same thing with my JK which now sits on 35s locked front and rear with 4.56 gears. Just remember as much as that stuff is super cool. There's something to be said about simplicity. The more you modify the more likely you are to break it! Speaking from experience is all. But giver. I love the arb bumper and its the only one I'd get for an xj. Looks like they go for about 900-1000 bucks eh? But looks like you've had goodluck on craigs list and ebay and all that so. Good hunting!

It's not necessarily a want, but more of a need. An RTT is not going to get me out a situation if I get stuck, but it'll sure serve as a nice place to sleep... if on level ground :).

I'm not going to buy new, but i'll scour CL and hope one pops up within the next year or so. CL saves so much money!
