Yes! You've got to do that comparison! And throw in a Lexus GX. Looking to buy in a year and the LR3, GX and this 4Runner are my top choices. I really like this 4runner, just want to see how the first year shakes out tech wise.

Yes, Rubicon VS. 4Runner Trail Edition VS. XTerra

We would also likely include an LR3

This could be good!

Hmmm, a grey or black trail edition???? Can't stand grey but swore I'd never buy black again. Ah, maybe I'll wait a few years. Did anyone notice that you can't get a base SR5 4x4 without adding either the convenience package or the premium package. Kinda dumb. They list a base SR5 4x4 at close to 31 grand but you can't buy it that way, you have to choose one of the spendy packages which puts it pretty much in line with the trail edition around 35 G's. Easy decision there I guess.

i built a 4x4 SR5 Trail Teams for US$32k

Really? SR5 trail teams? What ZIP did you use?

Edit: I tried a bunch of different ZIP codes and I can't build a trail edition for less then the $36,500 MSRP, and the lowest priced SR5 4x4 I can build is $34,230? Am I missing something? This is on Toyota.com.

I've noticed Toyota drastically controls what package combinations are available in certain areas of the country. Try putting in a different zip code and see what you get.

In SoCal they force you to bundle all sorts of crap to get the Off Road packages on the Tacoma, they all end up being over $32k

Wow, it won't let me add the kdss without the 4k navigation/back up camera system. It just got easier to be happy with my JK.

Sure is alot of buzz over this new version... I can feel the excitement here

What's interesting is that over on one of the 4runner message boards where I post, there is a lot of angst, gnashing of teeth and rending of clothes over the fact that (a) they dropped the V8 (even though the new V6 puts out more power than the old V8), (b) they went to a conventional 2wd/4wd t-case instead of the center-diff with a 2wd or AWD option on the TE and SR5 models (Limited still gets the center diff but it comes with full time 4wd) and (c) no leather on the TE or SR5.

I had to  at all of these "issues." Seems the people on that board are more about speed, appearance and on-road driving than they are about off roading (of course, it's a 4runner board, not an off-road board, and a surprising number of people on it own 2wd 4runners, so I guess that should be expected.)

I think it would be great if they offered a manual transmission once again. My thought is that if the FJC is dropped from the lineup, there will be a niche for a MT-equipped SUV so Toyota may offer the MT in the 4runner. After all, Nissan still offers an MT in the Xterra and of course Jeep offers an MT in the Wrangler, and seeing as how those are the 4runners' primary competitors in the "off road SUV" market, it would make sense that they kept a vehicle in that category.

I think the '10 4Runner will be a winner and love the looks of it. Geez - 22 mph highway with more power than pervious models in a 6 cyl is sweet to my way of thinking!

I really like the slide out in th rear, from the Toyota video it looks great. If you could figure out how to secure your fridge, it should work great and you wouldn't have to buy a slide or have it taking up room when you opt not to take a fridge. You would only have to figure out how to secure your fridge, maybe with a Mac's Tie down if you could some how get a fastener on the bottom of the slide?

Don't get your hopes up. My window sticker on my '05 Tacoma (1GR-FE, auto) says the same thing, I never got that kind of mileage even when it was new and unmodded.

MPG claims on window stickers are usually not accurate IMO.

I wish they'd offer the rear locker as an option on the SR5 models, like the old 3rd gens ($500 option, iirc). I can't see myself spending $5k more for the TE. Hood scoop, water resistent seats and a rear locker for $5k?

That's mostly due to the E10 gas you guys are forced to use, IMO. (and elevation?) In stock trim, I always get at least the EPA estimates, if not more.
