Truly awesome!

What's the power requirements for the roof mounted AC unit?

Are the solar panels a laminate type?

Parked next to that today john. Was hoping you could have swapped the 649 but then I realised there would be no room for my excavator!

Awh Ben....saw that 649 shorty there when I first arrived this morning. I didn't realize that was you.....you should have said gidday. Next time.

Hi Daryl....how are you?

Not sure of the exact spec of the AC but it should run OK on a little 2KVA Honda. It was a left over unit from an earlier job which will end up getting scrub bars over it but AC isn't something we plan for our new Global Warrior pop-top. Hardtop will have it standard but not roof mounted. .....like I said , this is only our R&D truck so maybe posting pics of it is a bit confusing but it's such a different truck that I thought the pics would be interesting posted up. Again, this truck is only an R&D mule where we try new stuff out and test it. So it is anything but standard.

There aren't any solar panels on the roof yet. We've had our own ATW 120watt monocrystalline laminates made but we aren't 100% happy with the measured output yet and are also considering other options as a plan B. The old amorphous laminates we were so happy with in the past are no longer available unfortunately ...... that company is sadly defunct I am told.

Will you be at OvEx?

Regards John.

Hi Daryl,

This is the current solar laminate setup on our Global Warriors...as I said, these mono-crystalline laminates are our own ATW brand and 120 watts each....only about 3mm thick. That's 3 of them you see there in the pic. The wiring eventually has a S/S folded cover over it.
No worries walking on them and we're just looking now at how we can strap kayaks down over the laminates too.

I'm overwhelmed at times, but doing ok. Sorry to say, I won't be at OvEx.

You guys think of everything! The ability to add some sort of roof rack was going to be my next question.

Hi Fella's,
I found a company in Taiwan that put this type of solar cell onto colorbond roofing sheets great idea and cheap to install roofing and panel all in one.

When's graduation day? One day at a time, mate.

Re: OvEx. It seems like forces of nature are conspiring against me. All the wheels fell off my US travel plans this morning.

Yeah thanks.....we've got a really trick racking setup in mind which sits in the 2" recessed channels moulded into the roof. You can just make out the full length channels in that last pic.

Just a couple of more pics of our R&D truck. Got some great action video the other night with one of the Overland Journal guys out on our test track so will try to post that soon.
Hi John, Very nice. Like the abstract 'ATW' on the bullbar (laser etched?) Any hardtop sketches to share? lol can't wait. Very practical roof work on mule...like the rack idea. On hardtop you rule out rooftop a/c, will it be perhaps rear wall mounted akin to the U.S. Earthroamer or ? Look forward to video and details as they emerge. GW will mount to Fuso FG or Isuzu but did I read correctly somewhere that the GW could also be mounted to a Unimog...specifically a U500? Regards, Dean

Hi Dean ,

Thanks for comments.

Still a little early to be releasing pics but honestly, the CAD rendered model of the GW module with hardtop roof on a U5000 that we did last week is the sexiest looking concept I have EVER seen.

AC on the hardtop, at this early stage anyway, is planned to be integrated into the side of the hardtop roof module.

The only Mogs we've looked at are the U1700L for obvious reasons and the new U5000 which is basically the same format but a lot of coin here at around $250k with CTIS and pressurised diffs. ......have not looked at the U500 yet.

So is that the same camper that fits on a Fuso? Is it interchangeable between platforms?

Hi Nathanael,

Sort of. The floor frames are moulded like a spider fame underneath. The spider frame is different on each. So we build the floor from the beginning to fit on a specific truck. The FUSO has a unique chassis and the spider is actually shaped over that. Is that clear? You can't take the module off a FUSO and put it on a different chassis if that's what you're asking? ....but we can build for a few different chassis and have already done the preliminary designs for several different platforms.

Thanks mate.
Regards John.
