Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

One more test you might need to check.. to see if there any fender flap or shake while driving.. The last time I had a 63 Bug.. I mounted those Baja fenders on the front and they flapped almost like wings.. purely made from an inferior material.. unlike your flats.

I did a flex test just before I did the gorilla test. I grabbed the edge of one of the fenders and pulled up and down on it. The Jeep rocked from side to side on the suspension but there was no flex in the fender. With that result there won't be any flapping at speed.

Those look Good! Cant wait to see the rears when you get to those.

Thanks!

Might be a little while before I get to doing the rears... I'm leaving soon on a road trip that will include Easter Jeep Safari, and anyway I'm getting tired of doing fiberglass so it may be a while before I feel like doing them.

BTW you may not have noticed - this is a Sahara, and to avoid a major mismatch between the black flat fenders and the body-color rears today I swapped the rears for factory black unpainted ones. They don't match the very black/shiny fronts either, but they're probably better than the painted Sahara rears :).

Damn those look amazing!!!!!!!

Great work as always Jeff.

Thanks! :)

Just noticed the Jeep is now sporting Rubicon sliders. :)

I never liked the side steps anyway, and these like-new sliders came up on Craigslist 10 days ago for $75 so I had to go for them. Two days after I bought the sliders someone else advertised on CL wanting to buy side steps, so I sold my steps to that guy for $125.

Now if I could just engineer a similar deal to sell my Cherry Red JKU and buy an olive drab one two days later then I'd really be happy :).

I received a few more photos of a factory hardtop slider window kit install...

Very Nice @Jeff, but it would seem the wife is gearing up for a soft top.. and that's why I asked about the windows to the soft top sides.. but even those aren't on the table.. think she rather fold the top down and be done with it.

Nice video!
Sheesh, I feel proud just to know the engineer who designed these pieces.
This must have made your chest swell, at least a little bit.

On a side note (and I hope I'm not being a pest here...), any word on when the tire covers will be available to order?
Or is there is a web site we can follow, instead of bugging you?

Hey, I'm just a Jeep guy like you, I'm always thinking up things to enhance my Jeeping experience, usually because I want things for my Jeep that aftermarket hasn't thought of yet :). Having some of my designs turn into products is just a side benefit.

I got an email from UPS this morning telling me there's a delivery from the sewing company scheduled for tomorrow. Because I'm driving my LJ to Moab next week, the company that'll be selling these asked if I wouldn't mind bringing a dozen of the spare covers in my Jeep for them to sell at the Easter Jeep Safari Vendor Expo, so they'll definitely be for sale there (a dozen, anyway).

Probably the rest of the production run will ship to the company today or tomorrow, so I'd expect they'll be on sale very soon. Scott if you want to PM me your email address I'll forward it along to the company and ask them to contact you as soon as they're ready to sell.

I'm also bringing the prototype Overland Rack for another company to show at the Vendor Expo, but since I'm not driving the JK I had to pack it up to take in the LJ.
