Not really a hotel... More like a South American compound, just needs a good stone wall around it.

This was last week at Powerlines Overlook in Nevada between Ash Springs and Rachel. I was running a Buddipole and Yaesu 897d on HF 40m.

This is out by Cuddeback Lake. The camo netting gives some shade and stands up better to high winds.

Thanks, I just got my HF General license in August, so I went all out. It was a huge cash outlay for the setup. It is definitely a lot more fun than 2m simplex and playing with repeaters. I made contacts in Texas and South Carolina on 20meters with 100 watts into a Buddipole. The computer, 1ghz Toughbook is my offroading computer with all my mapping and logging software for the radio. It's not mounted in the Jeep or Xterra.
