Odyessey PCT1700 MJT Mounting

The Odyessey PCT1700 MJT fits great, the only issue was the hold down so I made one for it.

Now I have plenty of juice!

Magellan Crossover GPS Mounting

Today I made a custom mount for the Crossover. I did not like how the suction cup mount obstructed my view (although it is a great mount) so I used my imagination and came up with this.

I had a small piece of steel laying around.

Some cutting, bending, drilling and painting.

A SAM splint for snugging it into it's new home nice and tight. Should help with vibration proofing as well.

Mounted the Magellan bracket from the suction cup kit.

Snugged it into the dash pocket. I never used that pocket so this was the perfect location!

The GPS is now solidly mounted, and highly visible to both pilot and copilot while driving without obstructing the view!

I will eventually make a gasket so that you cannot see the folded SAM splint inside the pocket but this will get me through Death Valley this weekend :)

Odyssey Looks great Doc! :clapsmile
We have to custom make our hold down as well. We run dual 1200 Odysseys in the Tacoma stock location

Quarterpanel Trimming

The bumper should be here any day from CBI...

So, It was time. This was the hardest to do mod yet, not because it is HARD, but because it was hard for me to cut sheetmetal on my baby.

Like cold water, the only way was just to jump in and that's what I did today!

There's no going back now :D

Several careful measurements and masking with duct tap to protect paint.

Cut carefully ith 4 inch grinder and a .045 cut off wheel
100_2971.jpg

Be mindful of the extra sheetmetal around the corners, I left extra there due to the proximity of the tailgate hinge and the fact that there is a substructure under there supporting the back of the bed. Do not trim this substructure!

Closeup of corner detail. This will be hidden by the new bumper :)

Look at all the clearance!

Looking good Doc!

Can't wait to see the bumper!

Man that takes guts. I would be so scared doing that. I always seem to measure everything wrong. Looks good though, nice and clean.

Man - do I ever need that extra clearance! Like you say, there's no going back now - good work!

:wings: No kidding! That one kicked my ********.

Some driver error there as well - I probably should have followed the line into the gully more before I turned up hill. Next time.....

Relays are a must have when wiring lights and high draw 12V accessories. I'm posting this diagram as a reference since they are all basically the same, and every time I wire one up it seems like I have to re-learn it :)

Sure could have used this during the last week! Took me a couple of days to sort out the relay business... I'm plain awful at technical electrical work.

It's going to be a real treat to inspect your rig in Death Valley this weekend. I'm going to be on it like _____________ (fill in the blank)! Whatever IT is, I'm going to be all over it.

You are a mod-madman, and your Tacoma is phenomenal.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! I have spent many hours on all this so it's great that it's nearing completion!

I have seen a lot of uses for a SAM splint, but this is the best by far.

Improvise, adapt, and overcome! :)

Cutting sheetmetal...

All you research and patience paid off with your trim. It came out clean. Well done. Now it's time to mount the bumper! Once is arrives of course...

Oh that holesaw did take some mental preparation but it all worked out.

Cheers,
P
