Hi Corey,

Martin here from Ark - Brett's out at the Footy now, it's Friday night here. It may be that your unit has already been shipped out already - I just don't know until we speak to our Chicago office. But either way, depending upon whereabouts you are, I would say you should have it by mid to late next week all being well. It's such early days for us we're still bedding down the supply chain process! Thanks for your patience - it'll be well worth waiting for!!

ArkPak explanation....

In an effort to assist with several of the questions and queries that have been asked recently about the various functions of the ArkPak Power Pack (or battery box to be more precise) and what you can and can't do with it, I thought it might help if I commented on a few of them:

* SOUND LEVEL: It is true that there is a very feint hum as the in-built fan cools the PCB board. However as I think Mike said earlier, you'll never notice it during the day.... it's only in the quiet of nightime that you'll generally notice it. So then all you do it put the ArkPak into what we call "silent mode" or "sleep mode" as some call it. Which simply means turning off the blue time-tracker LCD screen. This shuts off the fan, but still allows the ArkPak to continue to power all of your devices whilst you are sleeping !

* IPHONES & IPADS: We have extensively tested iPhones and iPads with the ArkPak - both in our lab and also out in the field (see our Ark Dirty Weekend Away video at www.arkportablepower/videos and have found it charges both of them perfectly - so no worries on that score.

* LONGEVITY OF POWER: Someone commented earlier that the ArkPak should give you a "couple of days of power"..... but in fact with an Exide 120 amp hour battery in the Arkpak, we recently ran a 40 litre Engel Fridge/Freezer for 11 days, and our tests have shown that on average you should get at least days of 12V and 3 days of 110V power with the largest size 130ah battery.

Hope that helps answer a few more questions for people.... best thing is to watch the online video - www.arkportablepower.com and then email Brett if you have any specific questions: brett@arkcorporation.com

Thanks Brett and Martin for the info.
Looking forward to getting this.

Saw the video a few days ago with the field testing, very nice.

...

should there be a number in there? and wouldn't the "... 3 days ..." be contingent upon what was consuming the power?

OK, looking at batteries again.
Exide XMC-31 MEGACYCLE AGM-200 Sealed Maintenance Free (AGM) Marine Battery

First reviewer likes it, but he mentions another battery that is cheaper and more powerful than the XMC-31.
15% more amp rating, and much cheaper than the XMC-31.
It is called the Exide Nautilus Gold NG-31, but I am not finding much info on it.

But the reviews for the XMC-31 look pretty good, and I think I am going to pull the trigger on it.
24 month warranty, and is shipped and warranty done through Amazon.

I just pulled the trigger on the full kit. I have a Sears Die Hard Platinum group 35 that I wanted to use for a dual battery system, so I will just use that for now. I watched all of the videos and read the discussions, as well as exchanged an email with Brett that answered any remaining questions.
For me, it came down to mobility, efficiency, and cost. I can use the unit in either of my trucks, I'll know exactly where the power level is and hopefully extend the life of the battery being used, and it's a great price point.

I'll report back when it arrives.

I did order the Exide battery, but it ships ground, and Amazon is estimating Friday the 13th for its arrival.
That should work out great, as Kathy from ArkPak called me a bit ago to let me know my unit should be shipping this coming Monday, so I should see it by next Friday also.
If I get time, I will look into putting the installation kit maybe on top of my cargobox in the FJ.

Setup a table in my camping storage room to put the unit on when charging from house current, and also for my Aqua Digital Shower I picked up a short time back.
The shower maker states you should hook up the battery every few months to keep it topped off.

Austin, looking forward to how you like it.

Corey,

I think I ordered mine the day after you so hopefully mine isn't far behind. Still undecided on the battery at this point but am leaning towards the Diehard.

Later.

Sounds good Ed.
We should get ours by the end of next week hopefully.

I could have gone with the Diehard too, but I wanted to give the Exide a try.
First thing when I get it is I will check the build date on the battery.

Scored Diehard Platinum 31M for $209 today for Arkpak

First of all, thank you to the everyone on the 12V/Solar thread here in the forums - it was how I first got inspired to seek out a reliable 12v solution. I'm humbled by the level of expertise on that forum.

I really needed a fully isolated, highly reliable solution since it will be used in hot, remote Utah inside a BMW X5 and that is an electronic system you really can't afford to mess with.

ARK was featured on a posting about cool products at SEMA and I became their first U.S. customer after reading a ton of reviews from happy Aussies.

The box shipped on September 4 but I live in California so it should arrive in a few days and I'll definitely post pics.

We're using it to power an ARB fridge and then various other functions such as powering cameras on overnight timelapses, keeping laptops running, etc.

I just missed the end of August sale on the Diehard Platinum Marine battery but noticed it went on sale again today so grabbed it and wanted to pass the savings along. Figured why mess with an Exide when the Diehard Platinum are cheaper, well proven and locally serviceable?

Now, if Mr. UPS would only ring my doorbell . . . . .

Grab it, people. $208.79 is the lowest remember seeing it.

Thanks for the valuable post!

Mine has shipped, but waiting on my tracking number.
Here is something interesting, even though my Goal Zero Ranger 350 battery is toast, the inverter which clips to the side of it is still good, and if I want to, I can use it with the ArkPak just by running the Goal Zero inverter into the ArkPaks 12v receptacle.
http://www.goalzero.com/shop/p/22/Extreme-UI/6:4/

Their inverter is 400 watts and has numerous outlets on it including 110v, 12v, USB, and a small port to plug the Goal Zero LED lanterns into.

Hoping for nice weather this coming weekend so I can install this in the rig.
