Expedition One Rear Bumper

Hello Everyone,

First and foremost, we apologize for not being more active in this community as of late. We have gone through some tremendous growth, and with that growth
leads to longer lead times, and unforeseen changes that have to be addressed.

We are excited to expand our brand to other manufacturers, such as RAM, Chevy, and GMC. We are excited to be apart of the massive market and customer base that is
within that market but, it does not happen over night.

We will have a larger community presence as of now, we have expanded our front office to take on the larger volume of emails, calls, and tech support that have happened
relatively quickly over the last year.

I personally answer anywhere from 20-40 emails every morning prior to even starting the rest of my day. This is all a part of being a company that designs, builds, and
manufactures a durable, rugged, good looking product. We also are one of the companies that offer custom work, the lead times on custom orders are pretty reasonable
considering some of the requests we get. We are also a small company. I know every person from fabrication to packaging on a personal level, we are friends, and more than that
we are a family.

With that being said, I would like to address some issues within this thread.

1) Anytime an order is changed during production, it becomes a custom order and moves to the back of the line. We produce hundreds of products across several brands,
our bumpers are produced in groups, not one at a time, so if a change occurs that causes us to have to re-cut and start from the beginning, that forces us to move your
order to the back of the line.

2) Some of our products are brand new and have designs that although are tested, may have unforeseen issues due to manufacturing variances on the brand side. Those variances
happen quite often, some of our products are only test fitted and worked on with ONE vehicle, and so we just don't know until we get feedback, what design
changes are necessary. In the past we have paused production to address the variances and design changes due to brands having those issues in their production.

3) A lot of this was stated by us, in this thread, and seemed to be disregarded.

At this point I would like to address specifics on this thread from the last time we posted. Some of the tech issues could have been resolved but unfortunately they were not
being addressed the way they should, that falls into the tremendous growth that we have experienced and we have put a lot of work into fixing these issues, and we are
always working on improving. I personally answer technical questions, and I personally have installed nearly all of the products we currently have available to order.

1) The races on the Dual Swing rear are not high speed races, so if they are a rough it really doesn't matter. They are left in there on purpose, most people do not
have the ability to press their own.

2) The sensors:: This one is a rather long explanation, the sensors are actually speakers (Think of it like SONAR) that sense using a cone shape. It does not matter if the sensor is turned
completely upside down, they will still do the intended job, what changes is the calibration of those sensors. We do our best during the design stage to account for this,
but small changes affect the way they read, there is nothing anyone that makes a custom bumper like this can do about it, unless they design a bumper that is an exact
copy of the manufacturers bumper. Period. If you need some further information please give us a call or watch our videos we have posted regarding this issue.

3) The powder coat. This is a weird one, we have done a ton of research into powder coat and choosing which company(s) we use. First and foremost, powder coat chips, breaks
and otherwise isn't as durable as other options out there. I personally have work experience in this specific field. I have powder-coated everything from custom rims, to
hand rails for stairs. Its just not what people assume it is. That is specifically why we offer the option or order a large portion of our products bare metal,
this allows for the color, durability and method to be customized on YOUR end. We offer powder coating because it is an efficient option out of production to
provide a complete product.

4) license plate lights.... We have LED options listed on our site. You should have received a pair
of these with your order. I will post some pictures on the thread showing what they look like.

5)Latches, can be adjusted, we have them up in the install instructions on other bumpers, we do not have the install guide complete for this bumper yet, but it will include
the adjustment method so you can freely open and close those latches with ease.

6)The swing lock can also be adjusted without re-drilling, again its in other install guides and will be included when this one is finished.

Finally, if you need to have more questions answered call me 801.627.2921 . My name is Jace, my work hours do vary, but I am generally here Mon-Fri 8am-4pm MST. If I don't know
the answer to your question, I will personally get with our design lead, fabrication lead, and our install team to get you a solution. That's a promise. You can reach me
by email as well at sales@expeditionone.biz

Charge back started. Not that it matters but no response to my last two email.

I have been looking through everything I have in the system, I cannot find the email threads you mention. I would love to clarify more on your bumper if you would like. I even sent you an email directly to try and resolve your issue. Let me know! -Jace

honestly with as expensive as they are, it shouldn't be a 100% buy in up front, a deposit would be a better bet. I would imagine they're using peoples "deposits" to finance production before the product is delivered

We do not and will not use that method to produce a product. That's simply untrue. We allow for a 30% deposit both on our site and over the phone to get your order started. We do require the remaining balance before it ships. -Jace

"Their cancellation policy at the time of order was 2%...and what exactly are they restocking since there isn't a bumper?"
I wonder how this miserable excuse for a company stays in buisness in the internet age? I saw on youtube that Expedition One was hawking their stuff at SEMA. PT Barnum still lives.
When people ask me about the bumper I show them the backup sensor hole that was clocked differently than all the others, that gets their attention. Then I mention the powder coating, then the waiting time, the run around, and I finish off with the "out of packing foam"line.

"Terms and Conditions of Sale At Expedition One we require payment at time of order. Custom and special order items and production requests that may require longer assembly time require a 30% non-refundable deposit at time of order"

Might as well make a profit from all the folks that cancel when they realize they are being taken for a ride.Heck of a business model they got going there at Expedition One.

I apologize for how everything happened. I would like to point out some specifics regarding your order.

1) You ordered in June, changed your order in July, and still received your bumper in September. We rushed, we got it to you.
2) Please email or call me with some of the issues you're having, I am not entirely clear on if you or a dealer installed it? Let's get that portion fixed.

It's not over.

They have now changed their website to 10-14 week estimated delivery from 9-12 and a mandatory 10% restocking fee for any cancellation. The cancellation policy when I placed the order was "...may be subject to a 2% cancellation fee...". They're claiming to the CC company they'll refund my money minus a 3% restocking fee. Their cancellation policy at the time of order was 2%...and what exactly are they restocking since there isn't a bumper?

Yup, we sure did! A very successful Black Friday sale made the lead times change. We did not however change to a 10% restocking fee? The 10% is strictly for custom orders, for example, if we made extended flares for a bumper that wasn't even listed on our site yet due to it being a prototype....... -Jace

Here is a copy and paste directly from our site!

My front bumper order is turing into the same run-around. I called at the eight week mark to get an ETA like Roger said to do. He acted exasperated and said he didn't know what was going on. He emailed me and said he'd get an update. The email then went cold. I emailed him several times over the course of three weeks without a response. I called this Monday to cancel the order and was emailed asking for confirmation of the cancellation. I confirmed and let them know that due to the lack of communication I was going to begin the chargeback process in a week (it shouldn't take a week to return my money). I received an email today stating the bumper is in final production and going to powder coating next week so they are going to charge me a 3% restocking fee to cancel. They must think their customers are fools.

I intend to keep my word...the chargeback starts on Monday.

Again... Can't find your emails anywhere. I have easily located chet6.7's email threads and have gone over the entire order... Feel free to forward them to me at sales@expeditionone.biz

It's great and all that someone has finally jumped in here to address the issues and complaints in this thread many, many months later, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that communication didn't exist on your end via the proper channels for any of these customers. If people are calling and emailing and aren't getting anywhere that's a massive failure on your end. It begins and ends with open and honest communication and y'all dropped the ball repeatedly on that front.

I like your product, it's forward thinking and aesthetically pleasing but I refused to purchase from you when I was shopping because of these issues. Which btw, it's not just here on the Portal where these complaints have been made, I have seen similar threads on other forums regarding other makes/models. I hope y'all can turn this around for the sake of those who have already ordered and for the future of the company.

Again, that came from tremendous growth and unforeseen issues. We take full responsibility for the issues that came from our end, we don't however take responsibility for half truths. I have worked very hard to find and go over every single email, product, and order that we have fallen short on or have been accused of falling short on. These products and situations are the highest priority for me personally and for our company as a whole. I have seen other threads involving a member here and his bumper. If you have unrelated threads that have not been addressed please send them to me. As a company our growth and our future is very important, this is one way we can make sure our customers are getting what they need.

Thank you!

The LED lights suck... Period. They require you to cut off the factory connectors, then are too short by two inches to be able to be spliced directly together if one decided to do that. I had to purchase the correct connectors myself through Molex, yet they still don't work because they are supposed to be a standard bulb, and you get a lamp out warning. Then you have to go to the dealer, pay an hours work for someone to change the set point with the wiTech. I have about $150 and a ******** ton of time researching something that should have been rectified in the R&D, yet wasn't. This is an issue you NEED to fix. It isn't a simple one either unless you re-design the opening of the bumper to accept the factory lighting, which would have been a much better solution from the beginning, and you would have reduced cost due to one less part to supply.

Your powder coating is not properly prepped. Any time you have a shiny smooth surface that the coating does not stick to, it is the fault of poor pre-prep prior to coating. The surface must be etched for adheasion to occur. Without it, you will get what you sell, a poorly prepped and flaking powder coated bumper.

I could go on...

Could you send me more details on the LED light problem you're having? The reason I say this is that I have a RAM here with the dual swing bumper installed, with the LED's and no dash light. This could be an issue we do need to look into. I need more feedback.

As far as the powder coat, durability is never going to be a strong-suit no matter the prep or the technique. We can agree to disagree, and not only do we offer "bare" versions of most all of our products, we also offer a powder-coat warranty.... I would consider that matter closed at this point.

Limited Warranty ~ Powder Coat ~ Plastic and Aluminum Products
The powder coat finish is a service offered through Expedition One and is not provided by Expedition One. Powder coat providers warranty the powder coat to be free from major defect for a period of 30 days from date of purchase for defects in workmanship only.
The 1 year powder coat warranty entitles the customer to a full refund for the amount of the powder coat and accompanying warranty if it is determined to be defective within 365 days of date product was shipped. Examples of defective powder coat would include flaking off the face or non-rock chip/impact related spots. Wear as a result of a lack of maintenance, impact, etc. are not covered under warranty.
Expedition One Geri fuel and water containers, washer fluid kits, and all aluminum products are warrantied for a period of one year. Proof of purchase is required. This warranty is non-transferable. Expedition One is not responsible for any incidental or consequential damages such as, labor fees, loss of use, loss of time and freight associated with the failure of any products. Any product that has been abused, altered, incorrectly installed or used in competition and/or races is not covered. All components must be used in their proper places and proof of this is required for warranty claims. Any substitutions of other manufacturers components or exemptions of required components will immediately void the warranty.

I can send you the info on the lamp out as well as the Molex part numbers that will allow this to be plug and play vs: cut and splice. Probably has to do with the fact that there is not a single LED or HID light on my truck. It has halogens from the factory in the Tradesman trim. By the way, your LED light is oriented improperly in the pic.

As far as powder coat, I guess I need a refund then. Mine has had chips in it before it even got out of the packaging. The raw steel beneath it was smooth with absolutely zero prep. I personally don't see that as a closed matter, but we can agree to disagree I guess, and let the market decide what it thinks.

If you got a warranty, we will honor it. If you didn't that is a different story. FYI powder-coating prep does not always leave the surface "etched". More commonly a phosphate solution is used as the final cleaning step before out-gasing (pre-bake)

Also like stated above in our Warranty policy, if it was chipping out of the box we would have honored that as a warranty. That is something we would have taken care of.
