Though it would save some weight, the helium comment was intended as a joke - d'oh.
:)

EDIT: It was a good surprise to meet you! I should have recognized the background of those flex shots.

How much larger than stock are the tires that you are running? Do you feel the need to re-gear, or does the larger tires work with the stock gearing.
Any progress pics?
Thanks.

I enjoyed the photos of the rig on the White Rim trail.

Great engineering mate! What size are the tyres on the rear axle? Love the use of air bags with the equaliser. Do you have torsion bars as well? Will you fit shock absorbers to the mounting system?
Great work mate, keep it going!!!!!!!
We fitted similar systems using trunions on Unimogs, but your system is far superior for vibration isolation.

Project progress . . .

After the White Rim trip I took a much needed break from the project. The plan was to get started again in June with the goal to be ready for a trip to Alaska next summer - 2009.

The project, and my life for that matter, has fallen to pieces. On June 19 my wife Hillary fell off her bicycle while we decended a road in the Sierra Nevada. Despite the fact she was wearing a helmet and suffered no other injuries, she died two days later from her head injuries. She was only 30 years old. If you're interested I have a memorial photo album set up in her memory here http://www.pbase.com/bajaroad/hillary
She provided the majority of my inspiration to build the FG Camper. I hope I will eventually find the will to continue the project, but these days I don't look far into the future.

The tires are just over 3" in diameter larger than stock - gearing has improved in my opinion. I am available by personal email if you have any questions.

Brent,

My deepest symapthies for you loss. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. A very brief look at your memorial pages shows a small glimpse at how fully she lived her life.

Peace.

I'm very sorry to hear of your wife's death. My sympathies are with you. A colleague of mine lost his wife last year. He found a grief recovery group very helpful

Wow. How terribly tragic. I hope you take the time you need to grieve and give her the respect she must truly deserve. Words cannot express...

Brent,

Paul and I were only talking about you today. I had to go down to work for a bit and I showed Paul your youtube clip. I'm sure he will be just as saddened as I am to hear of your loss. Believe it or not he glued a copy of your original email to us above our time clock so all the staff could get some inspiration from it. I know he thinks alot of you and I'll pass this terrible news on.

Prayers go out to you.
John
