P, I was using the SurePower unit. I was having issues with the AUX batter charging, and rather than troubleshooting it was just easier to install the NL kit. I like the kit much better due to the controller and alarm and smother solenoid engagement. The SurePower unit would set of the glass break sensor since I had it mounted on the front of the firewall.

I think I am going to hang on it, incase we want to install a third battery or a dual set-up in KJ. We'll see.

I was in a rush and didn't take much pictures of the set-up, but I basically followed the directions for an install with a winch. Glad I read the entire manual before installing. I'll try and post up some shots later on.

OK, here's some picture of the NL installed and the new shoes!

I mounted the National Luna Intelligent Solenoid - Dual Battery Isolator in the same spot that the surepower unit was located on the fire wall to the drivers side of the brakes. Now I just have to figure out where to mount the controller in the cab.... hmmmm???

I can't wait to get the freaking chrome off! I think the black lugs and center caps are due on Wednesday!

Looks nice Wil. The NL system might be on my winter list of upgrades for the Tacoma.

How much do those E rated Toyo's weigh in at? How 'bout just removing the center caps all together? That's my preference....

Batteries and tires.

Hmmm, issues with your spare battery not charging. Was that because of the SurePower unit? I like the new shoes and soles! Looks much better in black.
Cheers,
P

FWIW I long ago quit running center caps of any sort. They serve no function beyond cosmetic, and I don't value that particular look very high. My experience is that unless a bolt-on cap once they've got some miles on them they work a little loose and become a rattle.
I paint the area exposed and without the caps in place I can easily check wheel bearing temperatures.

I think it was due to the SurePower unit. It would abnormally combine at random intervals. I'm not 100% certain it was the unit itself, yet.

They look good Wil!
You will like the tires, mine just endured another trip to Baja and back without any problems.

BTW... I dig the VW emblem on the back wall.
