Nice article in 4wd Toyota Owners.

Nick

We are very proud of it! A HUGE thank you goes out to Jeffery Scott for taking all the killer pictures that were in the magazine. Also, Articulate took the cover shot!

Thanks guys!

You know, the problem with these 50 page mod threads is that it's too damn hard to find what you are looking for...:smilies27

So did your Engel end up in the drawer system for the bed? I was looking at both yours and articulate's drawer/fridge installs, and wondering where the fridge ends up in the bed when everything is closed up. Is it at the front of the bed (nearest to the cab), or over the axle? Any issues with it getting bounced around back there?

Seems like it would need to be between the bed and the axle for stability reasons when installed in the truck bed. But to do that, you'd have to have a pull out drawer so that you can have reasonable access to the fridge.

My Engel is installed using an engel slide on the rear of the bed. I honestly liked it the best when it was installed in the cab and slide slid out the door, but with FlyingBaby now in the picture, it no longer is an option.

FT-7800 install

I followed the lead of Jeremy and Blake in installing the remote head in the headliner.

Here you can see the speaker and face plate install all glued down:

I remote mounted the mic as well... I used a 6 pin flat wire made by Phillips. The mic cord connector comes out just below the CB (in the ash tray location).

Sweet!! Is that the inside of the cap you mounted it too?

Its actually the head liner for the cab of the truck. More pics to come when I can get outside and take a picture.

OK pics finally!
Radio unit is mounted on the back wall of the cab so that I can easily access the data port with out folding the seat down. It is also on a slight angle to allow for easier access to the data port.

Mic is mounted in the "blank" where the airbag selector would be on non-dub cab models.
