I dont remember anybody seriously saying to the effect of "have a right to tell others they can't carry this way".
But plenty of folks just saying its a bad idea.

Btw, For many sound reasons, open carry in public is a bad idea.

proper feels it is a privilege. Suggesting something is a privilege means if only for those who are worthy. That is telling somebody you can or cannot do something and who can and cannot do it.

Opinions are one fine but words have predetermined definitions. Having something as privilege is much different than having it as a right.

I'm not sure if you understand how Constitutional Law works.

Unless you are a lawyer or someone who profits of going though court I would think you would agree if the laws were written so they needed less interpretation by the courts things would be better?

For you guys that are all big and tough and confront armed people to harass them for carrying, do you also hand-feed wild bears?

I discuss open carry with people that do it all the time, even complete strangers. It is primarily for my own entertainment and unfortunately, all of the stereotypes are true.

My first question is: "Why do you open carry when concealed carry is an option?"
My Second question is always: "What training do you have with that pistol, Gunsite, Gabe Suarez, Frontsite?"

They have never, ever, ever, ever once had any real training with a firearm. Open carry is the truck-nuts of the gun world- an inconvenient truth and of course just my wildly biased opinion.

For clarification:
Don't open carry in an urban setting when there is the option for concealed carry. If a CCPermit is available and you don't have one, get it, and get trained.
Do open carry (if you want) in a remote area for convenience, larger weapon platform, accessibility (like driving with a shoulder rig), etc. I often open carry when I am camping, on a horse, etc.

Bad example. Cars are regulated to all hell and you need a license to even drive one.

They both kill people because the operators are either doing something illegal (speeding, theft, drunk) or they have no idea what they are doing (training and practice)

Owning a firearm should be as simple as being a "responsible gun owner". But how many gun owners get training? How many maintain control of the firearm at all times (safe and secured unless it is within your control).

I am a Life Member of the NRA and own more guns than posts in this thread, but honestly, realistically, most gun owners are a disaster when it comes to serving as an example of "Responsible Gun Owner"- another inconvenient truth.

Kids die all the time because of these ****************** that leave guns unsecured in the home. No excuse for that- lock up your weapons, teach your kids about gun safety.

Gun ownership is a right therefore it should require no training. You would hope people get educated and trained but there should be no requirement. If we start establishing requirements for rights they are no longer rights.

It will be a sad day if the government starts requiring us to get training in order to exercise our constitutional rights.

Don't take this the wrong way but are you delusional?

"It will be a sad day if the government starts requiring us to get training in order to exercise our constitutional rights."

This has been reality for longer than any of us have been alive - and its been upheld in court to be Constitutional.

In regards to over landing, off roaring explore as we are discussing in this forum:
What federal law limits how we can keep and bear our arms. I understand there are federal laws on manufacturing weapons types of weapons the sale of weapons but the weapons that are legal for us to own what federal law restricts on how we can carry them?
What right does the US Constitution require you to be trained in before you can exercise it? Some states have overstepped their bounds and place these requirements.

I have to disagree with the "should require no training" part - somewhat. Guns are dangerous enough when used appropriately, but when not, and with no training=death. Both of my daughters knew the rules of handling guns before they were ten, and I bet if I asked them today, they would still be able to recite the rules I gave them - or at least rule number one, the most important one. My number three rule is that "guns are not toys, and toys are not guns" - I've never purchased a "toy" gun for my children, never allowed them to play with toy guns and never allowed them to play video games that involved guns - even caricature guns.

Having said all that, I don't believe in nanny government regulations. You should be smart enough to realize the risks that come with handling weapons, in any manner and you should be educated on how to properly handle and care for the weapons you own.

I never said require, but the firearms community should put overwhelming social pressure on its members to ensure they do. Along with secure storage.

Believe what you want about rights, but there is fantasy and there is reality. If gun owners do not hold accountable our own, the government will absolutely do it for us.

So what we should do is all us good gun owners who concealed carry should put pressure on the bad gun owners who open carry to encourage them to do as we do?
