Shouldn't spelling and basic grammar be part of responsible gun ownership too? Not saying any names but you know who you are. Or perhaps not? Either way, reading this thread is tantamount to banging my head against a brick wall. It is a perfect example of how divided down the middle this country really is.

Sure that's a great idea. While we are at it maybe skin color, or IQ should be involved. Any other means testing you would like?

Don't confuse education with intelligence, I know some uneducated people who are very smart.

I had a similar thought, but on the other hand I know some very educated people that I wouldn't trust with a pocket knife.

I don't think the majority of the US is as divided as it seems. People are just over-conditioned to think that anybody with a different opinion is the enemy. I could be 100% wrong but I'd like to believe that most people would like to work together to find solutions we all can live with. Unfortunately their voices are drowned out by a much louder minority who can't see past their own noses.

True, but in a text-based forum, all we have is the written word. Discussion would probably be more fruitful (and less confrontational) if everyone took care to accurately write what they mean to say and thoughtfully read what others have written.

If you are talking about open vs concealed carry, I don't see it as an indication of how divided the country is but more of a Chevy vs. Ford thing.

As far as being able to carry versus not being able to carry? That is more of an issue that divides many in this country.

I think you hit on part of the problem, people conflating a forum with reality. Grammar has little to do with the 2nd amendment.

As far as the OP's question, I dont care whether they carry open or otherwise. So far as I know theres been no more of a spate of accidental shootings in camping areas than there has animal maulings. Carry if you want, dont if you dont.

There is as much stupidity on the left as there is ignorance on the right. Neither party is a pillar of sophistication.

I don't see it as that divided. Concealed carry is overwhelmingly successful in this country.

Given the current political shakeup, I am surprised people are as spastic about the 2nd Amendment as they are. The Supreme Court is going to take shape to protect that for decades to come. I even see suppressors becoming widely available and easier to access in the next 12-14 months. As gun owners, things have NEVER been so good (unless you live in California)
