Hood louvers

I've ran Pontiac GTP hood louvers on 2 Jeep XJs and now the KJ I have. They used to be 10-15 bucks a pair, now people want 75-100 bucks for them
They do work great though

I can see how airflow is certainly something they design. I am looking more to relieve the slow moving temperatures, over highwayspeed.

Another vote for marine/boating vents/louvers. Wide variety of sizes and style, usually from stainless steel (or plastic or aluminium). And much cheaper than automotive specialty vents. I'm running 5 louver stainless marine vents from Jamestown Distributors.
They are ~ 4"x12" $22.19 ea. WHI-S-1391P Whitecap Stainless Steel Louvered Vents Also sold as Seafarer/Seafit brand.

Are they domestic though? Whether it is imported, or domestic will affect its ranking substantially.

I ran a cowl hood on my last truck. The difference was very noticeable. Problem with that was all the heat released at the cowl means warm air in the vents for the interior. Crawling the desert I need the venting. Here is where I got my inspiration for the Avalanche: Auxiliary Cooling – Hood Vents Installation

I think I paid under $20 for the pair at a local wrecking yard :)

You could always cut a panel from a piece of sheet metal. Talk to some local hot rodders , they should be able tell you who in the area punches louvers. They're not usually more than a dollar or two per louver. That way you could have a custom shape or size that would suit your needs.

Or just take your hood, but I agree, not the easiest, but best looking for sure.

My 55 has them punched in. my opinion, it looks a little cleaner than the bolted on ones.
