Drive a Honda Insight. No plug-in models yet, but it's a good car without a trunk full of battery.

The 13kwh battery is about 150lbs the Electric motor might be 80lbs. Whole kit is probably 300lbs with coolant and gear. For free around town driving on my solar power off my house I’ll take it

The Fusion gets replaced by the new Escape battery is under the floor
Neighbor has the insight ugly as sin I’d just get the T3 instead. My mom has the T3. Nice car

The Tesla 3 is a nice car. Not cheap, though.
There's a new Insight for 2019 that looks nothing like the two previous models. I don't know why Honda isn't promoting it more.
The trunk isn't much competition for the Ranger, though.

My thread is complete, started off talking about a Ranger and ended up with the model 3. Honestly, I don’t want to drive anything else unless I have to.

We looked at them briefly, but they cost quite a bit more and it wasn't nearly as comfortable.

More than what? Mine wasn't priced much higher than a comparable Civic. I find that the Insight's seats aren't bad, but that's a personal preference.

More than a Fusion Hybrid. Mine is a CPO 2018, SE with the luxury package and had ~6k on it and it was 17,900. There was no other Hybrid on the used market that was anywhere close to that price.

Oh, lord no...haha. We never even considered a Tesla, I'm not paying that much money for mid 1990s GM build quality and the inability to drive 1,000 miles in a day...lol.

We paid $400 below invoice Titanium trim. $34,500. Then took $7500 in tax credits.
Great car trunk is tiny but doesn’t matter for our use. Only honda I own is a 2hp outboard motor

I like the Ranger probably more than the next guy but also keep in mind it isn't the same truck that is sold overseas. The frame is new (how all new I don't know, they at least changed it to put a steel front bumper on it), the axles are domestically sourced, suspension is different and of course the engine/trans is different. I don't know about the t-case.
About the small fuel tank, I think Ford usually aims for a roughly 300 mile highway cruising range which is a pretty good stopping point so you can go to the bathroom and get out and stretch. All three of mine run about that long on a tank. The optional bigger tanks in fullsizes are probably so they stay fed towing a trailer.
