Jack,

Do you think that is going to be your final ride height, or is there a suspension lift in the future? How was the trip south this past weekend?

Man, your pics are really making me crave some flares. They do a pretty fair job of keeping the crap off the paint?

I hope so. I don't really want to lift it. The truck/camper still fit in my garage now and if I lift it at all, then it won't, besides getting in and out of the camper/undoing the latches will get more difficult. Not to mention the cost(s).

Trip went well, I will try and get the write up completed tonight. Great trip and while I didn't get into anything too rough on this trip, there was no need for any more clearance. The tires were awesome and having OBA is even better. I aired up and down a couple of times for pavement and it was awesome not having to worry about a finite supply.

I have a 2004 chevy 2500 6l crew cab short box and would not trade it for anything. ( got the rubber floor option, strongly recommend it) It just hit 160000 and is running strong. It is my daily driver along with a farm truck and expedition rig. its chipped, cold air intake, I have a Radio package( cb, pa and bear cat scanner built into the sunglasses holder over head) 6 work lights off the back and side of the headache rack, and 4 forward facing driving lights. I put airbags on the back. I've been running toyo M55 285/75 R16's on it w/o needing or wanting a lift and no rubbing. I bought this rig in 08 with 20k miles on it.

You have a great looking rig, ill be watching this build.

soon i hope to get the flatbed and bumper built. And a fwc if i find one i like.

Mounting the brackets. I have to give Buckstop credit, the brackets are amazingly well done and literally fit the frame rails like they were made for my truck.




I have to apologize, Spressomon came up and helped me with the final install and we were too busy with other things to get any pictures of that, so the pictures go straight to the final product. I don't have any lights for it yet, still researching which ones I want.

This rig is great! I just took my 2009 Silverado 1500 out to the desert for a run and it really impressed me. I'm a pretty new driver and this truck made it easy. I hope to have a set up like what you have some day, love the camper and the new bumper. Great job!

That's the truth... I recently hauled a front bumper home for a buddy's Tacoma, HUGE box.

Very nice that your front bumper & winch are ON Jack, your truck is getting close.

Do you think you might do some suspension work with the added weight on the nose or is it too soon to tell?

I like your thinking. Me too, like I was telling you on the phone, it has truely been a "bolt on" affair. I did not have to pull out the air dremel, welder, grinder or any other tool other than the wrenches/sockets required for mounting. Thank you, I like it.

Thank you. I too have been impressed with how well this truck does off road. We are really enjoying the camper. Just need to get back out and use it some more.

I agree, the next "big" thing is the larger fuel tank. Shooting for sometime around June for that.

The next thing will be shocks, I'm leaning toward Radflo's, just because he will build 'em for my rig/weight. The only other option is the HD t-bars gm offered of crew-cab trucks with the "snow plow" option.

After bombing around in Dr. Smash's suburban a couple weeks ago, I can highly recommend research into something like this for the front of your rig.

That is exactly the bumper and winch combo I'm shooting for for my 06 2500HD 4x4. Looks great. Fine lines. Much cleaner-looking than other aftermarket bumpers I've seen. Very good choice. I'm envious!

I have thought about those. We will see how everthing works with the factory ones. I also have the option of using the Z71 bumpstops, which run about $45.00. I agree though that with my bumper/winch weight, I probably fall into the Timbren arena. Besides they are being tested, extensively, on the Spressomon rig. If they live through him, then I shouldn't have any problems. He likes them on his 100 with the extra weight he has added over the years.

Thank you. Believe me, I looked at every bumper that was offered for my body style and Buckstop had the best lines of any other them. Most had too much of a "under" bite look to them and they stuck out way too much. I can still get the struck in my garage with about 2" to spare.

Both Spressomon and I felt like Buckstop could have tucked everything up about another 2". Of course that is with my 12k winch, might be different with a 16.5. Still very happy.
