Man, that turned out really nice! I just started my trailer a couple of days ago, so being able to see what others have done is awesome. Any chance you have a diagram of your electrical system? I'm planning on powering a fridge and some DC lights, but would like to have an inverter (just in case) and I would also like to charge it via shore power (regular old extension cord in the garage) before a big trip. Thanks again for sharing the build!

Navy Jay - for better or worse I don't have a wiring diagram. I'm doing my best to put it together with the information I've found here and previous experience. (I probably know just enough to be dangerous : /) However, I can tell you what I've used so far to put the system together...

Battery - DieHard Platinum Marine Battery, Group Size 34M. http://www.sears.com/diehard-platinum-marine-battery-group-size-34m-price/p-02850134000P?sid=IDx01192011x000001&kpid=02850134000&kispla=02850134000P

Battery Charger - Marinco Battery Charger 2608A Marine. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NI1BD4/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Shore Power Plug - NOCO Genius GCP1 Black 13 Amp 125V AC Port Plug. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009ANV81S/ref=oh_details_o03_s01_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Solar Panel - RENOGY 100 Watt 100w Monocrystalline Photovoltaic PV Solar Panel Module 12V Battery Charging. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009Z6CW7O/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Solar Charger - Morningstar SunSaver SS-10-12v Charge Controller 10A 12V. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MQW3H8/ref=oh_details_o03_s02_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Fuse Block - Blue Sea Systems 5025 ST Blade Fuse Block - 6 Circuits with Negative Bus and Cover. http://www.amazon.com/Blue-Sea-Systems-Blade-Block/dp/B000THQ0CQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1398055055&sr=8-2&keywords=blue+sea+fuse+block

Pretty straight forward putting it together. I have everything going into the fuse panel (ARB fridge, Solar Charger, Shore Charger, water pump) to keep the wiring at the battery terminals as clean as possible. Used 10 or 12 gauge on the wiring...I'm going to work on a switch panel for the some auxiliary ports, the water pump and whatever else I think needs a switch. I go back and forth on whether or not I'm going to install an inverter...Kind of want to keep it as simple as possible. I've also got some ideas for a solar panel slide that I got from one of the other awesome builds on here...

Let me know if you have any other questions - I'll do my best to help! P.S. Just noticed the pictures above are before I finished all the wiring. I'll try to grab one with the actual wires going to and from the various items...

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at your other pics of the wiring and it does look pretty straight forward. I was also wondering what size water tank you're carrying and where you placed it in the trailer? Thanks again!

I used a frontrunner side mounted 10.5 (or 11.5 gallon) water tank...I think post 97 shows it in a bit more detail. The water system was all an afterthought in that I didn't contemplate it in my original design. I think if I were to do it again, I'd think about using a larger tank that could fit below the frame...having water from a spigot is so awesome that I want more of it. Haha. In reality the set up we have works great, and takes limited space, so I'm happy with it.

P.S. You got a build thread going for your build...Would love to check it out...

Great build! I'm in the design stage and your project is hugely helpful. Couple of questions:

1. Is the cross piece in the back necessary? I'm considering removing it if not structurally required.

2. Any issue with the top opening forward, with the hinge on the front?

Again, all great info for a new fabricator.

Regarding your questions:

1) I'm not sure which cross piece you're referring too?
2) Lid opens from the driver's side, not front.

Perhaps you were looking at a different trailer and accidentally posted in this thread? If I'm mistaken, please clarify - I'm more than happy to help.

Thanks and good luck on your build!

Sorry, I'll clarify.

1. The piece above the tailgate on the back.

2. I was asking if you think a lid could be attached to the front wall and pivot up and forward.

If I build mine without that cross piece and a lid that opens forward it seems it would be easier to access stuff in the trailer.
