Does anyone have suggestions for roof racks or even cross bars for a 2020 GX 460? The track system appears to be junk and Yakima and Thule don’t readily appear to have parts to fit it. I’d like to avoid the Frontrunner and Prinsu racks (I have a Prinsu rack on my Land Cruiser) only because they are more than we will likely need for this vehicle. We would like to carry canoes, kayaks and paddle boards on the roof. Thanks!

The only option at the moment for a t-slot ruggedized cross bar that works with the factory side rails. Not the best looking or as low profile as their 470 crossbars, but they are affordable, lower profile than the Yakima/Thule options and they get the job done.

The lexus factory crossbars are actually very well engineered and may surprise you. One of the highest quality accessories I've used and more than adequate for canoes kayaks or SUPs
I have had mine for 3-4 years no complaints. Now we have done our second year of adventuring, this year we did 6400 miles covering NM, UT, ID, OR, NORCAL, WY, and Co back to south Texas where we live. Last year we did Big Bend, the Gila nat'l forrest up to the Grand canyon and back. All with the GX our 84qt fridge and RTT

Can someone help me out to understand why when I am asking or searching through past threads about MPG on the GX470 platform, some people fully loaded with 1200+ and even above GWVR are getting better MPG than simply someone running larger tires with a 2-3" lift and no rack and no armor RTT or custom cabinets?
Theres obvious answers like speed, heavy foot, etc. But why such a big disparity. I see a ton of people who are so far from fully loaded claiming 11-13mpg with just a lift and tires. Then you see definitely the minority but more than 1 hand of fully loaded fully armored RTT users who claim to get 12-14mpg even tho they have 1000lbs extra compared to those other guys. Then you have the other fully loaded guys claiming 9-10MPG and I just dont really understand.
Is there anything to do with preventive maintenance? things like coil packs? plugs? hub bearing assemblies? CV servicing?
Or is it luck of the draw and purely driver style/heavy foot.
A good example of a thread I saw today. Bone stock GXs (admittedly almost all 03-05s) claiming 12MPG. Then a guy comes in and shows him pulling a medium size RV and manually calculating and hes getting 11MPG. Hes also running slightly larger tires and lifted 2". Just confused how thats possible. Also pulling a legit RV you have to assume hes got a few people in his car.

At speed, drag has more of an affect on fuel economy than weight. Also, at least for the GX 460, the type of driving that you use it for really matters in terms of fuel economy. Slower speed start stop driving really burns gas, but it's actually surprisingly efficient at highway speeds.
