I'm running the Superwinch hubs on a '99 TOD and truth be told I would look into buying and rebuilding a set of Aisins. I'm not sure what it is about the Superwinch hubs, but they don't seem that well built. I haven't had any problems yet, but they just don't inspire confidence. I've had them about three years and it is time to pull them apart, inspect, lube, rebuild. It may have something to do with the crap that CDOT sprays on the roads in Colorado.(/snip)
I'll second that!
I'm on my second set of superwinches, I shattered a gear on the first set less than 4 months after installing them on a very moderate trail. They replaced them under warranty. The second set has now been on for about 8 months over the winter, and the outer body is corroded and the paint on the inner body is flaking and has surface rust. Not good for something installed for less than a year methinks. I don't go anywhere off highway without taking my stock flanges because I'm paranoid I'll bust another one.
The Warns are twice the price, but I'd go with them. If you can find the Asins, get those as they're solid and less than the Warns IMO.
In the following pic, the "outer" gear is stuck inside the hub. Its a bad pic, but if you look close you can see the bigger cracks at 4, 9, and 11-0'clock positions. When I pried it free (its supposed to be a part of the outer body) it came out in about a dozen pieces.:Wow1:
