Justin, why are you "forcing" such big tires on your build? Wouldn't you be just a well off using a 265/75/16? The 305s are ~1.3" taller and 2" wider than the 265's. I think you can lift the P38 to get some more height, and still retain a balance stock look with the 265/75s. It just seems those 305s will make it look "butchered." I don't know...guess we'll have to see what it looks like and how it works once you're done?

I'm not sure how you got the P38 on top of the pile of gravel, but if you drove it up, that is a testament to the P38s 4wd capability (VC tbox + TC) with those bald street tires.
Those tires will look great on the P38, once they are on with the lift springs.
this is mine

As with the Tf D2 we are using a true 33in tire. This tire size on Rovers seems to be the best balance between driveability and off road performance.

Yep I drove it up there.
Good eye on the tires.

Even though there is a lot of work I often think about building up a P38. I loved my parents old one and wish I could have bought it from them.

Project update

It was a fun weekend at the shop test fitting multiple combinations of springs to achieve a lift large enough lift to fit the new tires.

The end result was a 5-inch lift over standard ride height.

Believe it or not the tires only measure out to 32.5s on the truck at 30 psi.

To fit the 33's we will have to trim but for now I'm going to live with it and see what real-world ill side effects occur.

We took it through this tiny little mud puddle and as you can see the truck behaves fine and even shows promise of a little bit of flex.

You'll notice on this little dirt hill the front comes down and absorbs the bump without any issues but the rear looks like it wants to bounce I think that the rear shocks need to be valved better to handle the extra height and soon weight.

Tires rub a little ;)

and the Poser shot with the new lift and tires.

Tires look great.

I must admit, at first I thought you were insane to try and fit them. But now - holy cow.
