Thanks for the Positive comments Bob. Bouncing/vibration has been high on my list to combat. With the frame being as sturdy as it is i am hoping it will stand up. Springs are worn out Rear YJ springs pretty soft. Tho i am looking at a torsion style possibly down the road if bounce becomes an issue. WWW.timbren.com The box will be mounted via anti-vibration mounts used in marine industry to isolate the hull from machinery vibration. Work well in that environment should be fine for washboard roads. But only time will tell.

Thanks Greg ..ya you should stop by.

Killer Job!

I am astounded by your momentum on this project, not to mention your fit and finish! I'm sure I'm not alone in telling you that there should be about a hundred more pics of your processes! Hard to put down the product and pick up the camera-- I have the same problem documenting my homebrew operation! haha.

I would like to know how your rear hatch is going to be shaped and attached. 2 pieces as in tailgate and liftgate?

Would you please take the time to document the implementation of those incredible hinges you plan to use on the front pod? Looks like a fairly complex install to me.

Maybe I missed it, but what style hitch system are you planning to use?

Thanks again for all your pics, and suggested reading!

Thanks Colby: I need to keep moving ahead with it i have other projects i need to do this winter as well .. Plus i am enjoying myself :sombrero:

The rear hatch is a split one down one up. The upper has the locks and a recessed LED light going into it.

Once i get to hinging the front lid i will remind myself to take more pictures. :)

My hitch for the trailer is one i designed and am having made for me at a local fabrication shop. Here in Canada we have to have everything shipped in no suppliers here really for alot of this off-road trailer supply. With shipping expenses added to things it tends to become cost prohibitive. Ill post pictures of the hitch once its done.

Ill try and tale more shots Honest

Cheers.

Seems the small things take the time in these things. Like everything else i guess.

Spent a few very humble days learning what not to do while welding sheet metal.
After a few trips to the metal store, i have a set of fenders i can live with.

Fenders are sitting loose waiting to finish a couple other bits first.
RTT is mounted for the last time.

Dusted off the old manual metal bender and bent several fenders...

Man, that looks amazing!!! If you take off the RTT, I have wanted to build a trailer almost identical to yours to pull behind a car to haul my camping gear.

Really nice work there! It's amazing how a properly proportioned set of fenders really finishes a trailer off. Excellent stuff :wings:

Looking fantastic, love the finish. :Wow1: For your fenders, given you've got nice curves on the main box, and rounded corners to all your doors, could you roll the bends in the fenders rather than sharp bends? They just look a little "angular" compared to the rest of it. I'm an architect, can't help myself with some of these things. Sorry.

If you decide to go torsion axle let me know. I can get a good price on them for you. The ones listed do not give you the independent suspension you are looking for. Dexter Torflex do.

This is a great build, I truly admire your wood working skills and your design lay out. Great work, you are DA MAN!!!!!!!

Hi Bob the axle i was looking at for other projects is this one made by timbren. http://www.timbren.com/axle-less1.htm i have their fact sheet and price list for them. Their prices seem reasonable and the axle looks good, i guess it will be one of those buy and try scenarios. I have as yet found anyone using one to find out how they are.
Appreciate the offer for the supply tho. Thanks for the praise.. I find after building boats for so many years the practical experience of cramming things into tight spaces comes in handy with a trailer :victory:

Indiedog: Ya i know they look a little out of place but i cut my doors etc for the angled fender. Plus once fuel cans etc are in place you wont notice them to much I HOPE ! :Wow1:

Wavebreaker, I don't mean to make the entire fender curved, just roll the bends instead of sharp angles at the change in direction. A bit like your doors are with straight sections, and then a small radius bend, then another straight section. It will still fit your doors.

No matter what you do it's a killer trailer...... props to you mate.

small update: Just working on tiding up small bits and pieces, the list grows daily.

Got the last couple coats of finish on the galley drawers and counter. installed them and designed and built my counter extension. It plugs into the main counter on 2 half inch steel rods. comes off and stores under main counter when it is closed up.

One more drawer to build now the extension is done. and galley will be finished for now.

Then onto doors and stabilizers for the rear. plus a dozen other things.
