Need Tech Help With My Gen III

I just replaced the right front hub assembly as my bearings were shot. A simple and straight forward enough job. Now that it is back together I have a new problem: When depressing the brake pedal it'll start off fine, then get really soft, start clicking and it feels like the ABS is kicking in. Then it stops and the brakes feel normal again. What could be causing this problem? I checked the pads and caliper and the are seated normally.

To do the hub assembly you have to disconnect the ABS sensor, could this be the problem? Could it be like the transmission and when it is disconnected and reconnected it is trying to re-learn? Does anyone have any ideas? Please help.

I didn't have this problem.

Now, I didn't disconnect the ABS sensors either. I don't know if that's the culprit. I just unbolted the sensor from the knuckle assembly, but I left the sensor connected to the wire (see diagram #2). Then after the hub was replaced, I bolted it back into place.

I did the same, I didn't "disconnect" the sensor either. I just unbolted it from the spindle to get the hub assembly out.


And, the problem is intermittent, it doesn't happen everytime I press on the brakes.

I disconnected the abs altogether, left it that way for years and never had a problem. ABS causes problems on the trail, so I deleted it.

Use the procedure in the factory manual to test the ABS switch, I don't remember the procedure but I remember it's in the book.

Tony, we need to plan our now annual Feb bb trip.

Well, it is fixed. It turned out to be an id10t problem. While putting everything back together I cleaned everything up... Except for the ABS sensor. It had a lot of fresh gook caked all over the magnets. I cleaned it up and put it back, Bob's your uncle, it works great again. So, a tip for all you DIYer's, when cleaning your parts to re-install, be sure to clean the sensors too. Thanks for the help everyone.
