One thing that really makes difference on my Kimberley is how you have spreader bars that support and stretch the roof taught. You first run few out from the trailer to a few of the upright poles, then you have additional spreader bars that go between those at 90 degrees. They have hand wing screws on them so they are easy to lossen, slide out until the canvas is taught, then tighten the screw clamp to hold them in place.
Once installed, they add an amazing amount of rigidity in the wind and rain. As long as you are working with a rectangle, you should be able to easily design spreader bars to keep your awning taught in stormy weather.
One other thing KK did well was to have 6" springs on all the guy ropes. When staked out, the prings do a nice job flexing when needed in gusts and then pulling back taught. Nice touch if you want to carried away with the details. :elkgrin:

It's more or less 20' x 20' --- saw some pretty heavy wind gusts yesterday and didn't budge.
The tarp isn't flat, btw; it's shaped to fit on top of the V-shaped tent. Sorta like a bowl...

I think that is why I would have to go with the 19'x29' to compensate for it not being in a bowl shape. The 16x20 that I have does cover it, but it does not cover the nose cone and it does not leave room to be covered while standing at the kitchen. The kitchen is covered, it would just drip on your head.
A little wider about 19' I think would cover the nose cone and 9' more would cover the kitchen area and be able to walk past the tent without getting wet. I just wonder if the 8 poles will be enough. I can get a gromet kit from harbor frieght to relocate them in better spots.

You're on the right track.
We bought 4 telescoping poles and use them if the terrain is uneven or if we deploy additional tarps. Sporting goods stores, Wallyworld, & Cabela's are fine sources for them.
Use heavy guy lines and good pegs...

Heading to the High Uinta Mountains tonight.
Going to stay at our cabin for a few days and then take the trailer out into the high country. Got a MR. Buddy Heater today to keep the tent warm. Not going to use it while sleeping. People say that they can be safe, but I love my little girl too much to take a chance. Get it roasty toasty and then turn it off to go to sleep. Says it will warm up to 200 sqft.
Hopefuuly I can get some good pictures while we are gone.

It came like that also it came with the bent propane holder too. That is on my fix it list now that I got my tanks.

So I have sprayed my tent down three times and let it dry each time. Do you think that is enough to keep it dry in a rain storm. Also I have seen you guys saying to put bees wax on the seems. Where can you buy it and is that something that I should put on the little pin holes that I find in the material?
