Rovertrader,

Can you post another photo of your front bumper for JKJenn and the rest of us? Best job I've seen of chopping the oem bumper, looks great.

For those who may be interested, Advanced Adapters makes a transfer case shift kit which solves the problem of the oem linkage breaking. Here's a link:
http://www.advanceadapters.com/products/pn-715596/

There are some low dollar home brew fixes that work equally well. Here a link to a thread on JKOwners that includes a couple of successful andcheap fixes: http://www.jkowners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10970&highlight=transfer+case+bushing&page=3

The Jeep part number for the cheap plastic clip which breaks is: Fits 07-12 new part# 68064273AB

I believe the cost of the part is under $1.

Nice job on the bumper! I did mine the same on my first JK back when I bought it in 2007. I meant to blend the side caps in a little better but never did. I would like to think I was the first 1 to do it and post on Jkowners/Jkforum but I probably was not. Only thing I would have changed was leave a little more material on the side caps so I didn't have to slide them in so far.

Looks like you've been modifying the Mojave, Dale...

Yea, just a 'tich' as my wife says- it's the underside where the money pit is of course. Which aux tranny cooler did you use Bill?

JPK- thanks for the shifter info. Did you do an aux tranny cooler, and if so, which one? Still debating on that mod...

Thanks JKJENN

You are welcome.

My Jeep has an 5.7 Hemi installed by AEV. AEV includes a transmission cooler, and also I believe a power steering fluid cooler or at least a run of metal tubing behind the grill as a cooler.

There are a couple of good write ups on JKOwners for doing trans coolers. If it were mine, I would do it. Too many reports of "hot oil" showing up on the forums. Some fires caused by overheated trans oil boiling out too, but those date to earlier JKU's.

My snorkle is more for keping intake air temps down and filtering dust and grit, but another relatively easy and cheap improvement to make is extending your breather tubes for the difs, the tranny and the transfer case. Haven't gotten around to it yet myself, but will when hunting season is over and the weather improves. River Raiders offers a kit to do it, but I think it would be about as easy and cheaper to just get the tubing and some fittings at a supply shop. I suspect either a good hardware store or an A/C supplier would have what's needed.

Thanks for all of your help. I have started to order some things for my planned mods. The transmission cooler is on national backorder but the online parts dealer let me know that they think they will have one for me next week. I am saving about $70 ordering it online.

I am also picking up a Warn M8000 that is new bovelut being sold on Craigslist, so I will save a little money there. I also ordered some other recovery gear ( ARB Kit, hi-lift jack, axe, shovel, & fire extinguisher.)

Also placed an order for the Gobi Roof Rack and talked to Nathan @ Iron Pig about the ARB RTT they have.

I checked out the photos you guys posted of your stock bumper mods and I don't think I can pull it off. I ordered a Rugged Ridge XHD. It's not an AEV, but it was pretty reasonably priced and gets decent reviews.

I have been watching tires - nothing that seems just right yet. Also waiting for the AEV 2.5" lift. Once that is all done, other than an evaop skid, I am done for a while. Once I get some of the mods on I will start a build thread. Thanks, again, for all of your help!!

I'll be watching this thread, as I just picked up a bone-stock 2010 JKUR and plan to equip it so it remains comfortable as my daily driver while also being Rubicon-capable.

Newbie tire question:

I know 33" would be a great size, but, keeping in mind I am running 3.21 gears, how would 31x10.5x15 BFG A/t's work? Seems like it would be a good fit and there is a really good deal for new ones CL right now.

33s and 3.21s with an auto would be painful. I ran some 33s on my 07 and had a 6spd... and while I managed, I hated every hill. If you can get the 31s for a decent price, I'd do it. With bigger tires 33s/35s, you'll really really want to regear to something lower.

Thanks for the feedback. I am picking up a set of used Rubicon tires/rims tonight. i think that will be the best fit. Regearing is not cheap and I am not ready to think about that yet. Here's hoping I can get a little someting for the stock wheels and tires.
