Sorry to hear that, I was sort of hoping that we might have meet some where along the road out there but you are going the wrong way at the time being. Have a safe trip and call the boat "Canter" so you can keep posting on this forum to let all out here know that you are still living a dream even if it is different.
Dan.

Geez Dan Im not getting rid of my truck, just my van and nomadic lifestyle
anyway Ill need somthing big to tow the boat im planning on buying
that'll teach her for making deals with no limitations

You say that, but we know differently... ;)

Sorry to hear that you are going back to a sedentary lifestyle. I have one of those at the moment, and I don't rate them all that highly.
How long do you think you will be able to hold out before the wanderlust takes hold again?

I figure once the grandkids stop being cute she'll want to get away from them as quickly as possible
It will give me some time to re think my rig
im thinking get rid of the camper box on the back, build a tray and make a reasonable slide on
just not sure how to make space on a swb chassis
with a slide on I can tow the boat
lets call it a work in progress

Bugger! I know the feeling too. Everyday i head out the driveway in the truck i know im a day closer to that big trip again but without the excavator and instead, a fully loaded camper. I went to ATW at yandina the other day and have truck envy again. One day I will upgrade the little canter for one of those big rigs they do. The wife wants a pink one and that's a compromise I'm willing to make!

yep the baby excavator. It does look like it runs on $1 coins! I wouldn't say the SWB was clean the other day, although it normally is. Thanks again for fixing those shocks so quickly.

Gday Stu,

There are some reasonable slide ons out there. I have set mine up so it folds out to the side so we could still tow a boat if needed. and i can fit the bikes between the camper and cab. The cab is 3600mm long and the slide on is only 2400mm long, leaving a reasonable space.

they are but they ride to high in the water and bang around to much
Ive got my eye on a 26 foot bertram fly bridge cruiser with twin mercruisers and its on a trailer
but will probably go about 21 foot in fibreglass, somthing I can dive, fish, go to rotto and tour in
also good for showing forum members around when they visit

personally i would go for something about 50' Stu! there's a lot of members:snorkel:

yes but they only travel in small groups or solo
its all a question of logistics
regardless of the size of the boat its how much beer you can keep cold while your cruising
now if a bloke hade say an extra 50L cooling capacity then more members could be entertained at any one time and hence the bigger boat :)

So what you are saying is that we (the members) need to cough up for a big fridge and you will buy the boat to suit.
Dan.
