Overland Journal: Discovery I, 5-speed

It was one of the Phoenix yards I frequent - I'd have to look up the name. One was the green color I really like so I took a pic of it. The u-jerk-it in PV often has a few RRs and Discos in it too but like around here, they're usually pretty well stripped or thrashed. The ones I looked at last weekend actually had the majority of their interiors in them.

If you're ever looking for anything in particular, just let me know.

Todd Z.

There was only 1 95 RRC in the PV yard a couple weeks ago. I really need to hit some phoenix yards.

What a great conversation piece on these perfect example of the 5 speed d1. I really enjoyed the posting and different remarks, opinion and comment. At the current time I am selling my 2 5 speed discos, but after reading this site. I will keep my 96 and selling the 95 with 91k miles. I already have a fully custom built expedtion truck ready at any moment to attack any desire I might have.. just go!.. (full Suspension, trailer, roof top tent, compressors, gears, arbs, rack, frig etc..) and I really didnt want to spend more time convincing my girl friend that I need to keep all my series trucks (60&70s) both 5speeds, 03 and 04 d2 and that im secretly looking at a 110 defender. But this site has set the tone for me to keep at least one 5 speed..if anyone is interested in purchasing the 95 just let me know. I have it posted on cl for 3500 but will let it go for 3k to an expo member..maybe even less if you make the effort to build it like Scott has done with his..I am willing to ship, maybe drive halfway or local pick up for the sale. I will post pics as well..thanks for a great piece..

Read through this over the past few days, makes me miss "Nigel" a lot. He gave his live for my family though.

Not bad for a 60mph wreck

I'm glad you and your family are ok. I know the truck is sentimental but its easier to find a new Discovery as opposed to a new family.

Unless they were driven daily on the beach without washing, Florida cars don't rust. Regardless that buy it now price is an awful deal. It's worth 3 grand

Surprised Florida vehicles don't rust given that humidity and precip are so high. (My reference point - vehicles from the W/SW)

That's ridiculous. Interior sucks for a truck priced so high. I saw a D1 in a local wrecking yard last week with much nicer cloth seats.
