From my build thread:
Yaesu FT-8800, Garmin 60CSx and iPad mini. I am running MotionX HD on the iPad and the GPS is connected to a Byonics TT4 and Yaesu FT-1500M for APRS (The FT-1500 is also for backup 2m duty). Two coax runs up to the roof using Larsen NMO mounts. With the rack in the way I couldn't mount the antennas to the roof, so I had to fabricate some plates to attach to the rack. Given the lack of a ground plane I had to use half-wave antennas. Antennas are Diamond NR770HB and Larsen NMO-150.

Passed my Tech yesterday and plan to install a TM-V71 into my '06 GX470 this week.
Anyone with a GX (unlikely) or a similar 4Runner want to share install tips or suggestions?
I was thinking under the pass seat but there are small vents there to push hot/cold air to the rear pass. The radio body fits under there but I'm hesitant to place it so close the those vents.
Wherever the radio body ends up the control head will be on a ProMount on the dash and I'll run some Ethernet cable with a F->F connector to extend the mic cable.
Any updates? I just ordered a TM-D710G for install into my '06 GX.
My DVD player no longer works, so I'm thinking of replacing it with the radio body (center console). I haven't decided where to put the head, but either on the dash or up by that stupid glasses holder by the cabin lights and sunroof controls. I will most likely run a remote connection for the mic down by my knee somewhere to avoid dangling cables as much as possible. Not sure about an antenna yet. I would be curious to see what you came up with.
Yep got it installed this past Wednesday. Just got home but will snap pics tomorrow and add to this thread.
