you have no proof, give him the benefit of the doubt. looks like packed dirt under him, i'm guessing its the end of a parking area. not everything is dead over here on this side of the country even trails have grass on them.

It's a Viking, and I love it!

Unfortunately, don't make 'em any more, but Rampage has the same thing now. I can’t speak for the Rampage brand, but the Viking is a very well made top

No worries about trail damage, I Tread Lightly and expect the same.......

It is a numbered Forest Road and open to motor vehicles, we were using a Forest Service map that was an hour old. I am turning almost a 90* corner into a gap in the trees and yes that is grass, some two tracks have almost no two tracks......

That is a North Face ground cloth, which model Tent I can't remember off hand. The ground cloth has turned out to be a perfect choice, the rubber side grips the Jeep, is quiet and packs up smaller than a tarp. I sized it so I can use it to cover the Jeep when parked Topless if needed..

I have an upper rear cross tube on my cage similar to a RockHard bolt on. I welded two 1 1/4" dia. x 3" long tubing spuds to the same clamps Rockhard uses, then mounted them pointing backward. I have two 4' lengths of 1" dia aluminum tubing that just push in to the spuds, quick and easy even with one hand. I keep the tubes real handy and with the rubber feet they hold the fabric gently, I also can lay the soft top window across the tubes for quick shelter without the rainfly, just like the hard top.

This pic is in a steady high wind, usually only one 1" nylon strap is used in the middle of the Jeep.

Great setup! I agree that ground cloths are a great source for a super lightweight solution to not buying tarps. Love the ingenuity. Do you have any other Jeep tricks up your sleeve that you'd like to share with us?

Very good idea, tarps are bulky and stiff.

I did a little light "profile stalking" and found your write-up on the storage in your Jeep. One word: AWESOME.

I'll be incorporating some of you ideas with mine for sure.

Newbie's 96 XJ

For seven years now I have put her through the paces, with long distance hunting, fishing and camping trips as well as regular trips to Rausch Creek Offorad park in PA.

Finally finished some mods on the ole KJ as of late!

She's been a few places and put through her paces, but she has more to go and more learning about the world to do.
