That was an ambitious trip for that storm! Trailer looks great, I hope to cross paths with you one of these days.

Thanks,
I got that from a forum member, those things are so rare! We had made arrangements for me to pick it up on Saturday. When I got up Tuesday morning there was already 6"-8" , and they didnt get the trucks out to plow yet! I 89 literally had like 6" of snow. It was a pretty hairy ride. My wife didn't want me to go, she kept saying look outside, no bodies on the roads it's so bad! My reply, " relax, I drive a land rover."

Here are a few pics of my LR3 and Range Rover. Just got the LR3 over the winter. It's an 08 that had only 20k miles. I haven't done anything to it yet but I want to remove the brush guard and mud flaps, get a full size spare, a IID tool for lift when necessary and troubleshooting if needed, some front end skid plates, roof rack, and rock sliders. Other than that it will stay pretty much as is. The Classic needs some bigger MT tires. It actually needs a lot come to think of it, but that's probably all it's going to get anytime soon.photo 2.jpgClassic.jpgLR3 front.jpgLR3.jpg

Hello, new guy and first post.
Found the site while googling "Discovery 3 expedition" and saw the LR4 build thread.

I have a 2004 Discovery 3 with the 2.7 tdv6 engine, autobox and HSE trim. It's an early one as it was registered only 2 months after the general release of the D3 in the UK.
Currently has 106,000 miles on it, is due front lower wishbones to be changed and steering inner arm joints, but that's wear and tear.
Has never let me down once since i bought it last August.

Mods are Goodyear Duratrac in 255/55/19, a 8mm sump guard, front and rear light guards, blanked off EGR valves and side steps.
Have a genuine LR expo roof rack on reserve from a friend and will be upgrading the brakes to RRS brembo fronts and V8 D3 rears.

Couple of pictures of it.

very nice. how does it differ from units produced a bit later on,i.e. when most folks would be able to walk into any lr dealership and get one?

As far as im aware, there was no change apart from some software updates etc.
The first year of any new car's production usually sees the customer do the final 5% development, so this one would likely have been back a few times to get updates and such.
Also for the UK, the HSE spec got changed a few times with some features being added/deleted. Mine has almost everything bar the cubby box fridge and bluetooth for phone sync ability.

I didn't set out to buy an early one, it's just they were all that was available for my budget, daily use has kept it sweet as they seem to go moody if left to stand about, moody LR's can be expensive..

cool. for some reason 04's seem to be rarer than 05's. im guessing production was low.

edit you do have protection beneath for the stray rock or such right?

also haven't seen many people take on those terrains(pic#2) with stock bumpers :)

I now have a sump guard, but i had nothing for those pictures, just removed the front tray to gain access to the front recovery point.

The 04s are pretty rare but out there. Here's the video of that picture. It was marked "very red" and only defenders had been down it, we got 2 d3s down it by taking care and picking a different line from the defenders.
